Which weeks do the Love Bugs usually vacation at Disneyworld?

Hi! We're starting to plan a trip for the very end of September in 2007, but the threads about the love bugs at the end of September this year were horrible.

All those pesty "buggers" are not my idea of fun and since I'm just starting to plan, I can easily switch my plans to early or even mid-october if need be. Can anyone give me some general guidelines and to which weeks the love bugs usually vacation at our beautiful villas.

Well, I can tell you they were out in full force 9/23 - 9/30.

A few cm's said that, while they were pesky that week, they were a bit worse the week prior.

It varies - depends upon the weather. So Sept and May unless you are prepared to deal with these things - are to be avoided.

I would go in Oct.

I like Sept - we were there 15 to 22 and yes it was horrible. but my nephew and niece get off that week from school and we go often during that time.

so in 5 years this was the worst that I had seem.

15 years ago these bugs were only along the Panhandle - but now they are over the place - even in Ala, Ga and SC.

We went LAST Sept. 23-30 (2005) and I don't remember Lovebugs at all. We were there Sept.16-23, 2006 and they were really bad. Seems like this year they carried over into that last week as well.

We were there Sept. 9th thru the 16th and they were out in full force.

Well, I can tell you they were out in full force 9/23 - 9/30.

My husband and I were there 9/22-9/29 and they were horrible!!! It seemed that they were worse in some areas than in others and that light colors seemed to attract them more so. I was told they come for a couple of weeks in April/May also. They were EVERYWHERE!!! On our balcony, in our resort rooms... there was NO ESCAPE!!!!

I was thinking of going to WDW in May/June of 2008. It appears the love bugs are there in May too ... does anyone know about when they show up/leave in May? I am sure it will vary some from year to year, just a guesstimate would be OK

I was there for the last two weeks of May this year and we saw them, on benches and on the ground and so forth. I didn't even know what they were, they looked like two headed bugs. They didn't bother us, but I do remember my DD didn't like them too much.

Maybe someone should check the lovebug school schedule for vacations.....

I was there in May and I didn't think they were bad at Disney, but I drove up from the West Palm Beach area and had to stop at EVERY rest area to wash the bug remains off the window. (As many as I killed you would think I made a dent at least!)

We always go in Sept & the last time we remember them being this bad was in '02 (if we remembered right).

We were there that same week in 2005 and in 2004 and did not have any either trip.

One theory I have heard as to why they are so bad this is year is due to lack of hurricanes. Apparently, all of the storms that happened in 2004 and 2005 blew the critters out.

DH and I have gone many times in May, including the first week, and we've never noticed them. Maybe there's been a FEW around, but certainly nothing noticeable. However, 9/12-9/21, the lovebugs were awful! I'm figuring they'll be bad again the last full week of April. That's when we've planned our next trip!

As a Floridian, I can tell you that the Love Bugs are here every year, once in the Spring and once in the fall. They usually come in September and May but it has carried over into other months at times. I knw that they are annoying but they are harmless unless you are a car window or grille. They take their tole splatting all over the cars when we drive.
