We will be visiting California in July and are trying to figure out the best week to visit. We have 3 different weeks to choose from. Which one would be the best choice?

We will be headed to Disneyland for 3 days and then to Carlsbad for beach time for 3 days.

Our choices are the weeks of:
July 1st (How bad is it 4th of July?)
July 15th (Does Disneyland's birthday affect attendance?)
July 29th (This is the week before I go back to work because I'm a teacher. Might be a little rushed.)

We were thinking of going to Disney Mon.-Wed. Does that sound like a good plan?

july 4th could very well be a good gamble. It is in the middle of the week, the last two have been crowded because they were part of a three day weekend, so word is out that they are crowded days, so that could hinder folks from showing up and instead crowding you on the other two choices. the 4th is on a Wednesday, so will not be that difficult in the morning. Mon-wed a good plan as Tuesday is the only EE day.

How long is your inservice before students arrive, you could rest during inservice if you go the 29th. Also, you are facing all those folks(like teachers) getting that last southern california Disneyland visit before school.

so july 15th would make you sleep better at night if concerned about crowds, because you choose the lesser road block of the three, but I would recommend 4th, could be that empty summer time week.

Thank you!! We have about 1.5 weeks before the kids arrive so I do have some time to adjust back to work.

What about the middle of June? Maybe the week of the 18th. Would that be better?

The only reason I lean towards July is because the beach will be slightly warmer for our time in Carlsbad. Is there much of a difference? We don't mind heat. Anything will be better than Texas.

I'd go with the first week of July.
Instead of Monday - Wednesday, I'd go Tuesday - Thursday.

The mid level passes don’t get blocked until June 29. Don’t come until after that.

We have been in July the last 4 years. We typically are there around the 15th. We always arrive early on Saturday, and leave late afternoon on Wednesday to head down to Carlsbad for the rest of the week (a couple of Carlsbad beach days and usually something in San Diego). We have found it to be a good time to go. Surprisingly, Saturday and Sunday are usually the least crowded days. Monday is always the most crowded. Tuesday is usually a little better than Monday, and Wednesday is usually pretty good. I would say the 15th, and to avoid 4th of July week. Outside of a big year like the 60th birthday, I don't think the actually birthday makes that big of a difference in crowds. We were there this year on the birthday and it was fine.

As far as the beach weather, they have what they call June gloom, and it can be chilly. We went in June for a few years before July, and there were days that it was only 60 degrees in the beach area. We usually went in early June though, so it might be fine by later June. Being from Texas, you will be laughing in July when all the California people are complaining about how hot it is. We always find it very pleasant in July- the locals are sweltering and we think it feels perfect!
