Which week? Before or after Memorial Day?

Ok. I wanted to go mid May but my friend cannot go until after the 16th so our options now are Tues the 19th-Sat the 23rd which is before Memorial Day or the following week, the 26th -30th which is then after Memorial Day. It is $100 more pp the week before but I think the crowds might be less before Memorial Day. Though are the longer hours usually started after Memorial Day? That would make more crowds more manageable. I could also travel a Thurs through Monday for same price after Memorial Day but I worry about weekend crowds.

The last few years the longer hours have started the week of Memorial Day. In 2015 things will be different around that time because of the 60th anniversary celebration for DL that starts on May 15. So extra crowds before and after Memorial Day are expected.

And I would not trust a website to tell me that far out about crowds.

That site has been pretty accurate plus it was recommended in a travel book. It's just a guideline, I don't take it for gospel.

I understand you were just trying to be helpful with the link. There are large uncertainties about crowds especially after the 60th anniversary begins probably in May. Going back the last year or two there have been lots of posts about park crowds web sites that have been very far in error. So many of us around here have grown quite skeptical. That is all. :)

Yeah, I don't really "trust" the prediction, but it gives an idea. Then with the thoughts of both being busy because of the 60th just went with what worked best for us travel wise. Though I hate it that we can't go the week before! Good to know the 15th starts the 60th celebration. Actually the 15th was when I wanted to go as I get off the WBPC cruise that day. But with my friends schedule and cheap flights it will be nice to get a few days at home before another vacation

DS's birthday is around that time, and when it falls over the weekend we liked to spend his b'day in Anaheim.

Our own personal experiences with this (and it's the same with my birthday, which is real Columbus Day) show us that the crowds get higher and higher as the weekend *approaches*. Sunday was the busiest, Monday morning was pretty busy but as the day went on the parks emptied as people drove and flew home for Tuesday's work/schoolday.
