Which Week?? April 8-13 or 22-27

Trying to plan when to visit has gotten so frustrating in the last several years! I do not like large crowds, but they really can't be avoided anymore, especially with school-age children. So, those are the two weeks we're left with. My 8th grader's school is offering a trip to Wash. D.C. the week of April 8th. She doesn't want to attend (we've been multiple times), so that's a good week in terms of light make-up work. Our school district is off for Spring Break starting Good Friday (April 19) through the week following Easter. Which I'm starting to understand is slightly unusual...? Do most schools take a break earlier in the Spring? The crowd calendars are all over the place and completely contradict one another. So what do the DISBoard people say? Thanks!

I wouldn't say your break is unusual, so much as regional. There are many districts, mostly in the south, that take their spring breaks in March because they get out for the year in May. I'm in the Northeast, and we always have our spring breaks in April. This year, our break ends with Easter, and next year our break starts with Good Friday.

Between the two choices, I'd pick the week of April 8. Even districts that don't have any part of Easter as their spring break will have Good Friday and possibly Easter Monday off. Your spring break week will see a combination of other schools on spring breaks, and people doing long weekends at Disney for Easter.

I'd also pick April 8 week. We're going that week too and our school didn't align with most NY school's schedule (during Easter). I believe the 3rd week and 4th are peak season for school holidays and spring break. Check the hotel price and you should be able to tell the difference.
