Wilderness Lodge comes to mind!

The theming there is incredible!

We were at AKL Conci over last NYE and the entire week the parks were very crowded. Around lunch each day we returned to the AKL and did many activities they had all day. My kids loved them and so did I. They are free and very educational. Also they have lovely placed to eat.

My vote with kids would be Animal Kingdom Lodge, or Grand Floridian at Christmas.

do you have to be staying at a.k to join in with the fun as we are staying in a villa

thanks

Agree WL or AKL.
WL also has a quiz sheet you can pick up at Guest Services that takes guests on a Hidden Mickey hunt through the resort! :)

Anyone can join in the activities. If you love animals this is THE place. Also the theming is over the top.

I dont mind animals providing there is a fence between us, I am a bit scared of most animals ( sad isnt it) if I can move faster than them I am o.k.
I am prepared to brave it for the children though .does anything rome freely ,if yes count me out

thanks

kim

All the critters are behind fences. Besides, they're all vegetarians.

AKL also has a hidden mickey hunt.

My vote at Xmas is GF. It is so beautiful and the decorations are unbelievable. And you can jump on the monorail with the kids and just take a spin around to view the Poly, CR and MK.

If you go at Breakfast or Dinner, there's a very nice Character buffet at 1900 Park Fare. PS are a must.

Hi
Thanks for all your ideas. we have decided on gr 1900 park fare for our xmas dinner. we would like to go to wl & akl to have a look around that day. Will we get a parking pass even though we haven,t booked a meal there l wonder ?kim

We did both the WL and AKL this past July, Our kids 14 and 9 loved them both. it was a nice diversion to walk around and explore. It is easier if you have your own car though. We never really resort hopped before we started having a car available.

The WL at night is spectacular, And AKL before dusk is awesome with the animal veiwing areas

Enjoy you won't be disappointed

Just another suggestion...don't miss out on going over to the Boardwalk. There is some great entertainment for adults and children, especially in the early evening. Plus it is relatively easy to get to without a car by taking transportation to MGM and either walking or taking the boat to the Boardwalk.

The AKL is fun any time of year, and it's very nice at Christmas. I also think the decorations at the WL and GF are terrific. The BoardWalk Inn also has lots of shopping, dining, and activities like surrey bikes for fun activities. :)

Thanks
Didn,t think about boardwalk it will be good idea to finish the day the day there.

Are non residents welcome to visit the wdw resorts . ???
are they looked upon as another attraction ???

thanks

We have visited most of the resorts and have never had a problem with it.

When you drive up to the guard shack, just tell them you want to look around (or have meal reservations or recreation reservations, etc, whatever is the truth). Depending on the resort, you will probably be issued a three hour parking permit (especially the MK resorts). That should be plenty of time to stroll around and take in the sights, have a meal, whatever. Boardwalk does not usually require parking permits due to the many Boardwalk activities.

Our last trip was nothing but resort visits. We had parasailing reservations at the Contemporary, got a 3 hour pass and still had time to tour the hotel. In fact, we asked at the front desk if we could see a room (just curious) and someone gave us about a 30 minute tour of the entire resort! We saw a room, the restaurants, the observation deck, the pools/marina, the shops, just about everything. Just be nice about it if you are interested. On our honeymoon (staying at BWI), we toured the GF the same way, but traveled by golf cart, courtesy of the front desk.

There are tons of guests that visit the resorts for various reasons. In my opinion, they are attractions to themselves.

Have fun!

You can visit the other resorts, eat there, etc. But you can't swim in their pools. Isn't that correct?

Don't get these boards all stirred up about pool hopping. :p

In general, pool hopping is a big NO-NO. Feel free to enjoy almost everything else about the resort, just stay out of the pool.

Only DVC members are permitted to pool hop "...if these pools are not at capacity on any given day. This offer is not available at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge."

I've got about a half page from the DVC "Perk Pages" (Aug/Sept 2003) on Pool Hopping Guidelines, if anyone wants the full text.

If it's not to cool that time of year...any of the resorts that have ferrys always makes for a little adventure. Take a ferry to one resort and have dinner then hop on the ferry to go to another resort for dessert.
