Hi, I would like to visit one of the Disney Water Parks, as the theming looks worth seeing. I can't swim so was wondering which park had slides suitable for a non swimmer, i.e ones that don't plunge you under water. Also do both have children areas with smaller slides for my DD(5).

Thank you for any help.

I'd recommend Typhoon Lagoon, as it has beach areas were you can relax and the wave pool where you can wade rather than swim if you wish. They also have a nice kids play area and a lazy river, which you could maybe ride (as you ride in a tube ring) despite the fact you're a non-swimmer.
However Blizzard Beach has a nice childrens play area (with small slides and a iceburg assault course as I remember(?))
Hope this helps :thumbsup2

I would say Blizzard beach was best for non swimmers, purely due to the massive wave every five minutes at Typhoon Lagoon. It can knock small children over quite easily. Also the kids play area looks great!!:thumbsup2

I too would say BB with the kids area, why not try both then you know for next time which is best?:thumbsup2

I've never been to BB so I can't comment but I really like Typhoon Lagoon. I'm not much of a swimmer although I do swim a little bit, but I love the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon. You can just sit in the rubber ring and go round for hours and hours !!

Hope you have fun whatever you decide !!

I would also recommend BB, as previoulsy quoted when the waves go off at Typhoon Lagoon they are really strong and even standing in shallow water the waves can knock you over. But they are both great we love them and will be visiting both in June

I would say blizzard beach too - lots of areas for small children and with the lazy river you can float round and the water is not too deep to worry you if you cant swim - there are some good slides too that dont plunge you under, - have fun:thumbsup2

I also recommend BB there is a great family raft ride which finishes in water only knee deep also there is a big bumpy slide that ends in no water at all and as others have said the lazy river is great just avoid those cold water sprays

im a non swimmer too and can say both water parks are fine-the little kids have areas where they can play but there are many things for families like teamboat springs at BB which seats 6 and takes you on a great ride and eventually you go into very shallow water-i always check the ending of the rides to make sure the water isnt too deep and then go for it.
By far the worst for non swimmers would be wet n wild on i drive-my kids loved it but i was too chicken for anything!

I would say BB. Our DD loved the kids area when we took her when she was 4 and the theming is great.

As much as i like TL i would say BB is beter for a non swimmer

Tyhoon Lagoon definately.
More swimming pools that are not deep and you can paddle, lots of places to sit and watch overs.
Small slide rides too
It gets the thumbs up from us.
Sarah :thumbsup2

Thanks eveyone, sounds like BB will be the best choice as it sounds like I can go on some slides, I don't really want to spend 2 days at a water park to visit both.

Both water parks are fantastic, really lovely places to relax in after a few days in the parks, I wouldn't rule out going to both, you will be surprised how parked out you can get and a day floating in a lazy river can be just what you need!

Another vote for Typhoon Lagoon - it is much more laid back and relaxing. The lazy river is much better. Agreed you wouldn't want to be out in the big pool when the waves are going but there are so many other places to be. The rides tend to be a lot more gentle than at Blizzard Beach as well.

We are going to both parks in October and will probably get there for opening and leave by about 2pm or 3pm so we can go back to the hotel to get showered and changed and then out for an early evening in the parks.

Claire ;)
