Which Water Park has the best theming?

I didn't think I liked the idea of Blizzard Beach - I thought it was mostly a thrill-slide park. But after looking at some pictures/videos, it seems like it has some fabulous Disneyesque theming and it might be worth it to me just for that (and the lazy river : ). Is there a storyline there? What about at Typhoon Lagoon? Which park is done better, as far as theming and storytelling?

I used to know the storyline for each park, but can't recall the details any longer. Obviously, the ship at the top of the mouantin at TL got there because of ..... a typhoon! What a shocker. As for general theming, bith parks do a good job. I really like the storyline of misadventure falls

Both are themed well, I'd go TL over BB though. However, Volcano Bay puts both to shame, it's really quite spectacular.

I like both, but I think your description of Blizzard Beach being more of a thrill park is probably correct.
TL has added new things since the last time I was there that look really fun.

Typhoon Lagoon is for everyone. Go there instead. I don't like water slides as much as I do rollercoasters, so Typhoon Lagoon is my kind of place.
If River Country were still open, THAT would be my answer, because from what I've seen, it was a splendid park with splendid theming.

We prefer BB over TL. I just think the whole backstory is a lot of fun and we prefer the slides there. We also love being able to walk over to WinterSummerland to play mini-golf after we are done with BB.

I used to say that TL is a really good Disney park that happens to be a water park, and BB is a really good water park that happens to be a Disney park.

To me, BB's theme always seems too "over the top." It's Central Florida, it's hotter-than-blazes, so that white plastic looks like white plastic rather than snow. TL's is more subtle, but also more believable.

On the other hand, we think BB's slides are more fun. That's a little less true with Crush-n-Gusher, but still true.

Caveat: It's been almost a decade since I've been in either...

Haven't been to Volcano Bay yet, but plan to get there at some point in the future.

We've always preferred the "vibe" of Typhoon Lagoon over Blizzard Beach.

We prefer BB, but then we live near the beach in CA so we have zero interest in the wave pool @ TL (which is better). TL also has the water coaster which is really fun. BB has better slides (by a mile), and I think better theming but that is subjective. Grumpy by Birth is not wrong about the vibe. TL is more laid-back - by design.

IMO BB for the slides and TL for the wave pool. My younger grandchildren like Typhon and my older grandchildren are partial to Blizzard. Both are a lot of fun.

If we had to pick one it would be Typhoon Lagoon. We like the theming better and the main wave pool is amazing. Both have great lazy rivers.

I never liked the Blizzard Beach theme. I'm outside in a bathing suit - I don't want to pretend it's winter. I like the more tropical feel of Typhoon Lagoon, especially if you want to relax and pretend you're on a beach somewhere. Like others said, Volcano Bay is supposed to be nice. I've also done Aquatica a lot and really liked it too. Like Volcano Bay, it's very Polynesian/Pacific themed. Unfortunately Aquatica doesn't have a great lazy river situation - there is a small one, but the "main" river is more of a thrill river that you really need to swim through.

I do prefer the theming of TL, and the music. But BB has some things going for it -- the wave pool is gentle so if you don't want to be knocked over by waves, it's a better choice. And they have a lift for the big rafts and a ski lift to get you up to the top. The lazy rivers are a tie.

We love them both, but we're always there in February when they only have one water park open so we do 4-5 days at either one on our trips.

We like the theming of both although personally I prefer BB's theming. That being said, their main pools are the biggest difference. I like the quieter, gentle bobbing at BB. My daughter is all about the huge waves at TL!

Like both, but the Ski Lift at BB is really cool and an amazing part of the Theme.

We prefer TL over BB. Since BB is the only park open right now that's where we plan to visit next week.

Another vote for Typhoon Lagoon. I miss the snorkeling that use to be here - but still love the theming and the wave pool. The ski lift is fun at BB, but I feel like it's down as much as it's open. If both are open, I'd choose TL every time.

We love TL better than BB. I really don't like the snow theming as it makes no sense to my brain at a water park! We found the ski lift to be quite slow, compared to our feet when walking up to a slide! We love Crushin Gusher, and the new family raft ride is really fun. We always rent a cabana, and the ones at TL are far better (and actually covered) compared to those at BB. I didn't feel the cabana was a decent value at BB, but I do at TL. Just to be ABLE to go to a water park again after all of this pandemic, however, means I would go to either one right now!
