Is anyone else following this story. It is so amazing. I am so humbled by what these Monks are doing. They are in NC now. I wish I could go see them, it is so moving.
Me too. They said there are a lot of support vehicles with them for the entire walk. I saw an RV but I imagine they will need a hotel to ride out the storm.
They came by a block from my office. I walked down to see them. It truly was inspirational. The crowd was very respectful.
They are staying in places that have offered them shelter. Here they stayed at a rec center, a VFW type hall, and a even a baptist church. The monks do sleep outside in tents regardless of the temperature.

And I wish all in our country especially could follow their lead. It's crazy (wonderfully) to see this happening while so much unrest is happening here right now.
We so need this right now and it is a blessing to see them and the people of all faiths, nationalities, etc coming out to support them. I pray for their safety and health particularly over this upcoming storm and severe cold weather. I understand they are planning to still walk during it. I hope they are encouraged to take shelter
I just saw a snippet of the lead monk talking about Aloka and how he was a stray in India. Aloka found them walking and followed them the whole way, which I believe he said was 112 days. Many dogs followed them for an hour or two or even a day, but none except Aloka followed them to the end. The monk said he deserved better than being a stray so his team raised money to bring him to the U. S. Aloka means light.
