We are a family of 8 (kids ages 15, 13, 10, 8, 6, and 3), so we are looking at staying in a 2 bedroom villa. If you could choose, which would you pick and why? This is our first Disney trip and I would love help narrowing down all my options.....Thanks!

I'd probably go with BCV's. Your kids will really enjoy the pool. My favorite is the WLV's though, it is an awesome resort.

Well, let me start off by saying, you can not go wrong with any 2 bedroom from any of the resorts. You will have a full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 full bathrooms, ahh heaven when you have so many kids. Will you be renting from an DVC member? Okay, it all comes down to what you want to do most. Both the Boardwalk and BCV are located within walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood studios. Lots to do around these two resorts. Wilderness Lodge Villas would be alot more quiet, but you can take the boat to MK. Animal Kingdom lodge is the newest and have very cool 2 bedrooms, even a pool table (oops thats only in the Grand Villa). That said AKV are the farthest from the parks and activities. So you would have to rely more on transportation. Finally, Saratoga Springs is close to Downtown Disney and again you would have to rely on buses for transportation, but you can walk or take a boat to DTD. Start lurking on the DVC boards and you should see lots of things answered for yourself. Hope this helped you a little.

you left off OKW - the biggest rooms.

that say which do you want to make the happiest - your little ones would enjoy the VWl because it is so close to the MK.

your older ones would enjoy BCV or BWV because they could go where they want without you. but hey that is true of all the DVC resorts - the bus service allows anyone 14 or older on it without a parent.

BCV has a wonderful pool that is shares with BC & YC - storm a long bay - but if this is a first trip they might be interested in the parks.

might even suggest OKW - (it is the least expensive) - because once you leave those parks - you are gone. It is peacefully and quiet - very nice - after all day in the parks.

here is a link that has pictures and description of them all

We loved OKW because it is so peaceful. You almost feel like you get 2 vacations - one at the parks and one at the resort. Plus there is no comparison in the size of the villas to the others.
Our favorite is BCV because of the pool and location. A lot of people say older kids love the pool, but my little ones were just as crazy about it.
For whatever reasons (I'm not even sure what they are), I didn't fall in love with WL or SSR.

Depends on when you're planning on going.

The age group of your kids would probably put you dead in the BCV/BWI villa set. Having the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk nearby is going to be great for your 15 and 13 yo's (and maybe your 10 yo, too), while having Stormalong Bay at the BCV will be great for you 10, 8 and 6 yo (and the 15 and 13 yo will likely enjoy the "pool scene" there, too). All that and you're a hop and skip from Epcot AND MGM...sorry, HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS.

However, if you're looking a bit further out...say mid to late '09...I'd say you may want to wait and see what happens with AKV opening up Kidani Village. The BIG benefit to staying there is going to be the extra bathroom (meaning 3 full bathrooms in a 2 BR)....not to mention the ability to see the animals right outside your window (which seems to be a draw to almost any age group, 8 to 80). The pool and water play area, while not "Stormalong" in scope, seems like it would be pretty compelling for your kids, too.

With 8 people, I would definitely say OKW. The villas there are so much larger. We have done 6 adults there and elsewhere and no comparison, everyone enjoyed OKW with a larger group more than the other locations.

OKW is the only 2 br villa where you can seat 6 people around the table and have them eat together. It was great for breakfast. We also played games at that table. None of the other locations have a table that size. At least at OKW, your children would have a bit of space. At the others, you'd probably not be able to sit comfortably in the living area at the same time.

The pool at OKW is not as "grand" as the one at BCV but it also won't be as crowded either. When DH and I go alone, we prefer BCV but when we take the family, everyone likes OKW the best.
