I currently have a 2 bedroom reserved for my family for December. It's over at the new Animal Kingdom Lodge - but I also have on hold a 2 bedroom at the BW as I am starting to 2nd guess staying at the AKL..

I have stayed at the Jambo house and loved being there but will be traveling with my inlaws. This will be a very non commando touring time - restaurants will be high on our list - and leisure time with the grandkids. My MIL will be in a scooter so need to keep that in mind. Which are the 2 are more accomodating for dining options - quick serve options - room service... Is there bus service from BW to all 4 parks or is walking to Epcot required? Never been over to the BW at all so not familiar with the area and distances..

Any opinions over the 2 would be greatly appreciated.. I really wish this wasn't a surprise trip so I could make the in laws decide...lol

Transportation:
AKV - you'll have to take a bus everywhere.
BWV - you'll take a bus to AK or MK, boat or walk to DHS and Epcot.

Dining:
Neither are really good for dining
AKV - Mara, Boma and Jiko at Jambo House, Saanai at Kidani
BWV - Boardwalk Bakery, Spoodles (soon to be changed), Flying Fish, Big River Grill, or you can go over to BC/YC/S&D or walk over to Epcot (and use your ticket to enter the park)

Lodging:
Both Jambo House and BWV are only lockoff two bedrooms. No dedicated two bedrooms. Kidani has dedicated two bedrooms.

Is it a savannah view room at Kidani? If so, I think that would add something to do in the leisure time with the DGC...also even if not a savannah view room, there are pleny of animal viewing areas, but personally we like savannah view rooms the best.

I'm just wondering do the in-laws know about the trip, that is, knowing that you're all going away?

With the scooter, I think it will be easier at BWV because the boats are just ride on, whereas there is a procedure for getting them on busses, and only a certain number of scooters per busload.

I guess I really shouldn't say completely surprise - they do know about the trip but the details they have asked to be a surprise.,..

Yes my AKL is a Savanna room but not sure about it being a dedicated 2 bedroom vs a lock off.

Both the Swan and Dolphin have several dining/restaurant choices. Your DVC membership card will get yo a 20% discount for most of them. Your MIL can use the scooter to get to either.

IMO, there are more dining choices in the BWV area than there are at AKV. Being able to walk/scoot to two parks (or you can take the boat) had got to be an advantage over the bus.

I'd pick the BWV for your trip over the AKV. More variety of things to do, easier access,

Will you have a car? The parking at Kidani is great! There are several elevators that take you right up to the room hallways, you don't have to go to the lobby. You'll have the extra bathroom at Kidani.

If you will not have a car, I would go with BWV. It's very easy to get on and off the boats with the scooter. Kidani would be all bus, which takes time to load a scooter. There are many more food options at BWV without having to get on a bus.
