Using DVC pts to book a vacation next June to DL. Has anybody stayed at one or the other or both views? Any suggestions which view is better?

GC Downtown view (can you really see DL fireworks at night)
GC CAdventure view (worth the extra pts?)

Thank you for all your response and opinions.

When we use DVC points to stay at GC we always get garden view. We've had theme park view, which was okay but that was before the GVC construction so the room we stayed in may no longer be theme park view. I always worry that DTD view will be too noisy. You are literally above the walkway which might be fun unless you want to rest.

I am sure that you will have a great time no matter which room you are in -- enjoy!

We've had all views with DVC.

My faves:
Park view - only if it is above the Wilderness Expedition Trail or the Napa Rose. Why? The music is phenomenal. Is it so relaxing and soothing and waking up to it in the morning is a dream. This was the view we had on our wedding weekend (in a corner suite).

DTD view - If you love the vibe of DTD at night, then Yes -by all means, do it. You get the music from the promenade and all of the lights.

Garden view - Ask for a view of the monorail courtyard. Quiet and very fun when it runs through the hotel.

We had a GREAT view of the fireworks from the balcony of our DTD-view room. I liked seeing the fireworks better that way than being in the park and trying to crane my neck and plug my ears! Plus, you can sit out on the balcony and people watch over DTD.

I loved the DTD view! I loved the music and the lights and the people watching! And once you close the sliding glass door it isn't loud at all, people think it is but I have had that view twice and found it not to be an issue. I also love the themepark view. Have been in several different spots and it is also neat to watch at night while it's all lit up and you can hear park noise :) If you request to be on the side that over looks the entryway to DCA from the hotel it might be okay since you wont see the DVC construction. I am not sure if I would pick a garden view because I like something interesting to look at but if you want something quieter that might be your best bet! :)

We have stayed in every view possible at the GCH and really love the DTD view because it is beautiful at night and yes you can from most spots see the fireworks from your balcony. This is are favorite view by far!!! We loved being able to sit on our balcony and enjoy the nights on the DTD!! One other plus and bonus that we enjoyed with the DTD was the fact that we could take a peek out from our balcony around opening time for the parks and see what the crowds were like.

Our second favorite view would be the garden/courtyard view, which is very peaceful and calm.

As far as theme park view from the views that we have had in this category we were never very impressed because they all seem to be partial views and obstructed so it was not really a thrill to have at the GCH.

INMHO if you are looking to get a really good theme park view, the upper level of the PPH has the best clear views of CA but we really do not care for PPH and only stayed there 1x and had the theme park view and like I said the view was great but everything else to us was just so so.

Best of luck and have a great trip.:goodvibes
The best advice I could give is to pick a view based on your personality and what you expect to get out of your stay at the resort:goodvibes

Hey TinkandPooh! OP, I agree with TinkandPooh on the view. As for the music level, it varies from night-to-night. They tend to move the performers around nightly. Most nights the level was fine with the door shut, but there was one night that we could hear the keyboard music in the bathroom (entrance to room). We were in romm 4153, and the fireworks from the balcony were spectacular. Much better than the press of humanity that was in the parks that night (the Friday before Halloween). Well worth the inconvenience of the one night of loud music. One night, dh and I were sitting on the balcony having a snack while the kids went to sleep. It was about 1:30 am (park had closed at midnight), and we saw one of the cats walking down DTD towards the parks. It will still be a great time regardless of the view!

Our favorite view was park view, over looking GRR. We could even see the fireworks from our room! It was spectacular, I could have spent days alone just people watching, and looking at GRR from our balcony.

Hey Canyon girl good to see you around the boards. I just had to post real quick because you said you were in room 4153 and wanted to ask you how you liked the 2 long hallways to get there? LOL Anyway I say that because when we spent our honeymoon at DL we were in 4165 just a coupel doors down so I know that view and it is a fantastic one!!!:goodvibes

I really didn't think that the walk from the elevator was that long because there is an upside to being that far away. There were few people running up and down the halls because there were fewer rooms past us. It is amazing how many parents let their kids run and scream in the halls. We saw it several times. We almost got bowled over by some kids. Their parents didn't seem to see a problem. I would prefer to be as far down the hall as possible! Nice walk!

Sounds like the DTD view is a great view and less DVC pts. vs. Theme park view. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.

I definitely prefer the park view... on our first stay there, all of a sudden after DCA had closed for the night, we saw a huge parade going on. When we asked a CM about it, they told us it was a big press event for the opening of their next big promotion/parade. It was a very cool treat. But even without that, we really enjoyed seeing the park, all those cool features that you spot while you are there... and it's kind of fun to see people running around in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail too. I found the DTD view boring... but not a bad view, just not very exciting. I want a room where the monorail passes by next time, I didn't even know they were the standard view rooms... I'm going to request one next time because I think it would be kind of cool - and could make for some nice photo ops!
