We are staying at a value resort this time (trying to save money on this trip), which of the value's would be the best for children under 5. We will be staying in a preferred room (I was told this is closer to the transportation/pools, etc...) would you also recommend this? Tia

Well, I guess it all depends on what the kids like. AllStarMovies is fun, with all Disney movie icons around. But, me, I prefer POP. I watch the little ones there and they all seem to be having such a good time. There is a wading pool area right beside the main pool. Also Goofy's water jets that the kids love to run around in.
It's a personal choice, but I would go with POP.

They're all pretty nicely themed, but if he's seen Toy Story, 101 Dalmatians or Fantasia I'd definitely recommend ASMo. DD was completely overwhelmed by the walk to our 101 Dalmatians room a couple of years ago when she was three.

We like Pop. I have stayed at Pop twice, once even alone with my 4 year old twins. I like that Pop has its own buses (not stopping at any other resort) and my kids loved the Hippy Dippy pool and the goofy jets and wading pool when they were younger ( the trip we took when they were 3). The food court has a good selection. The last time I stayed I was alone with them and without a car. We traveled during a non peak time and I booked a standard room but got a great location. The resort is big so if you are going during a busy time it might be worth booking the preferred location if you don't want to take your chances. My kids also liked the theming of the resort-- and have asked to go back to the Pop hotel!

I've taken DS to WDW 6 times between ages 3 and 7 and stayed at ASMo or POP every time. He loves them both, but ASMo is his favorite. I would recommend a preferred room for someone with a 5 year old. When you come back from the parks and and the kids are tired and don't want to walk, or if they fall asleep on the bus and you have to carry them, being in a preferred room is a blessing.

When my son was small, his favorite was ASMovies, Toy Story buildings. It's all about the icons to little ones!

I prefer POP and if I were you I'd skip the preferred room and request a lake view room. The preferred rooms are right in front of the hippie dippie pool which can get quite loud.

Thank you so much BabyPiglet, do you know if the Lake View room is close to the bus stops, if its more expensive, etc....
