Which Value Resort for X-mas

We usually stay at Wilderness Lodge. We Are Florida Annual Passholders and we "use" to get good deals. I remember in 2006 we paid $145 a night, but this past December 2007 we paid rack rate $240 a night, I figured, ok, still not bad but 2008...$400!!? NO WAY!

So I decided on a value resort, I have stayed at POP(which I enjoy) and ASMo(which I did not, that much)...

I am between POP or ASMu(ASMu because of the new room renovations & more quiet & Pop because non-share of resort buses).

Which would you chose? Which would be "preferred" at ASmu?

Of course my travel dates are during X-mas Week up until New Years.

We stayed at Pop this past Christmas week and it was very festive. The lobby tree was even nicer than some of the deluxe resorts we visited. I didn't visit ASMu so I can't compare the two.

We did a 1 night stay at ASMo during our last visit in December and it was quite nice. We visited all the Values as we had never been to the All Star resorts (we've only stayed Deluxe at AKL) and wanted to see what the big deal was amongst them all. We checked them all out and quite honestly, they were all the same in regards to decorations and layout. I found nothing interesting about them, but thought they were all nice and gave a really warm Disney "feel" to each resort. The only thing is the obvious themeing of each resort, but other than that, they were all the same to me.

I've heard the reports that ASMu rooms have been refurbished, however our Love Bug building had fresh paint and all the rooms in our wing seemed to have also been refurbished. The smell of paint was new and so were all the fixtures, wall art and bedding. We inspected everything to see if we were just imagining something but everything looked new to us, for the exception of the tube-style Sony trinitron tv.

We always travel with my BIL, SIL and nephew but this year they're expecting a new baby and this will be the first year that they aren't going with us. Since we always split the cost of a room at AKL, this time we've decided on doing an ASMo package (first time we've done a package; always do room-only) because we like the resort so much. We still want to change our plans to go back to AKL and we may just do that with the $1500.00 we're expecting from the government in May. They want us to spend it on the economy instead of saving it, so we plan to do just that.:thumbsup2

Well I'd pick Pop no matter what time of year it was, if only for the bus situation, but I've stayed at Pop during the Christmas season before and loved it. I found it to be very festive. They play some Christmas music throughout the resort and the lobby has a huge gorgeous tree. I'd reccomend it for Christmas definitely.

I would love to go to WDW at Christmas time. I just would love to see Main Street with the Christmas lights....bet it is beautiful. I am definitely going to put this on my to do vacation list. I think I worry to much about the coldness in December, the kids wouldnt care at all. But I am very sensitive, lol :goodvibes
