I'm sure we've all taken some flak from friends and family about our DVC membership. How do you see yourself?

Obessed with always planning that next WDW vacation, total addiction. Beyond my family and friends' comprehension.

I would have said controlled/obscessed last Tuesday, but then I called for an add-on Wednesday so I have upgraded to diehard.

<sigh> 285 points and holding......

I think I need counseling from the folks that can control the obsession. Please tell me how? We are taking a year off in 2004 and I'm afraid I'll lose my mind.

I am a diehard!!

I was actually hoping for a category btwn fan and diehard, almost because I was in denial. Than a brief review of how I spend my "free" time made me realize that diehard is the correct category.

FREE TIME: on Disboards, reading Disney magazine, planning next DVC trip, trying to fiure out how to convince DH we need to add on, "just visiting" the Disney Store, seeing hidden Mickey's everywhere-like my grapefruit in the fruit bowl, etc.
Please tell me I am not the only one!!

FEAR!!!
It is fear of admitting to what thye really are--fanatics like the rest of us. Anyone on these boards IS diehard.

Nezy

Im with you all the way!! Diehard, aint looking back on life before Disney, got it bad, reeeeeeel, reeeeeeeeeel bad obsession with DVC and Disney.

Now lets see, what was life like before DVC. Hmmm, no, nope, nada, dont want to go back to life before DVC and Disney. Not gonna do it, wouldnt be prudent.

I just don't understand the folks who 'burn out' on Disney. We have always been HUGE fans, but the more we go to WDW (even after many years), we become even BIGGER fans!

I answered cynic. We bought DVC Nov 01 - still waiting to see the Magic (literally) Hopefully this Nov.
With the high cost of airfare, we can only afford to fly once a year and well we didnt have a good start.

I must be a diehard. I was just told Friday that I would be receiving a raise and the first thing that popped in my mind was, "I wonder how many more points I can afford with this raise?" Will probably be doing the add-on dance again here in the next month.

I put controlled because I am haven't spent all our savings on DVC and trips (just a good hunk). My family would definately have put UNCONTROLLED (big time uncontrolled)...just added on another 100 points - my raise in July will cover the cost! Sandie

Eva,

I like your thinking, always looking at ways to add on points. We did two add ons in the month of May. May 2nd we did a 100 point add on, because we did a mortgage refi, and the $$ we saved from our monthly mortgage payments we are using for the add on. May 16, we did a cash 30 point add on. We had some unexpected $$ come our way, so we took those $$ and did a cash add on. We joined DVC in March 2002 with 170 points, today we now have 350 points, and already thinking about next year for a possible add on.

I could say we are classified as Diehards, we are sooooooooooooo excited about our first Disney Cruise coming up in 83 days!!! I even have my DD 12 excited about it, and that's saying something for a 12 y/o.

We bumped into my mom and niece last night at the mall after we saw Finding Nemo. My DW and DD went into a dress shop, and my DD found 3 dresses she liked, her first thoughts were, this dress for formal night, this dress for semi-formal night, and this dress just because I like it, and it's on SALE. We got her the three dresses which were originally priced at $110.00 for a total of $37.50, and she looks beautiful in all three dresses. Two months ago, this kid did not have a dress in her closet, and didn't even have any thoughts of wanting a dress. My mom and niece, who are going on the cruise with us, were also out buying clothes for the cruise.

I better get going, I've rambled on long enough, but then again, I think that's what us Diehard Disney Fans do best!!!

Andy

When are you going back to Disney / or when are you going on another Disney cruise ?

All I can say is : " You are all jealous !! I want to go to WDW more then I can....and I would sail on DCL the rest of the time I'm not at the park.

That said' I believe everyone now knows how I feel. LOL !!

You did seem to post in the right area then, because driving is always an option if you fit the obsessed description. We drive down from west of Chicago to experience the magic.

I am a serious fan, but I couldn't say diehard because I had a friend who bought all things Mickey, including having a separate Christmas tree for her Disney ornaments, Mickey-related vanity license plates, etc. We love to vacation there. Maybe I would fit into a category between controlled and uncontrollable. How about, "occasionally goes overboard"??

Does this qualify for the "diehard" catagory?

In 1995, my first trip, I went for 10 days with my best friend. A month after I returned, I met my husband. In 1997, I convinced him to take a trip for a long weekend. (Thursday-Monday) We left our 10 month old son with my sister. I did not know that Disney would have the same effect on him. In 1999, our son was going to turn 3, we decided we couldn't wait for him to be any older, we needed to take him NOW. So a month before he turned 3 ( free admission) we went for another long weekend. (Thursday-Monday) and decided that we would have to save and take a BIG trip in a 2 years, when he was older. Oh in 1999, we left our 10 month old daughter with my sister. So, as soon as I got home I booked a 12 night 13 day stay for May of 2001. We had our 3rd child in Feb of 2000, and I joined a message community for moms of March 2000 babies ( his due date was in March and we met while pregnant) So, we now have a big trip to look forward to...in October of 2000, the women of the message board were so excited, one of the women from Australia was coming to the states! We wanted to plan a meet, and Disney it was. I was not planning on going, since we were going in 7 months..but they convinced me that "Disney1fan" just had to come! So, I was so afraid to ask my husband if I could just take the baby and go for the weekend, when I did get the courage up ( he is always telling me I spend too much money) the first thing out of his mouth was "why can't we all go?" !!!!! This was the first indication that my husband was as much if not more a Disney freak as I am!!!!

So we went for a long weekend in October 2000, and I almost forgot, I had planned a 4 day cruise for December 2000 for my husband and my Anniversary..no kids. When we went in May 2001, we kept saying this will last for years! We won't have to come back for awhile, because being down there for that long will purge Disney from our system! It was our plan NOT to return until the baby was 7, which was 6 years. It was a good plan....LOL. Until I got home, and a week later I was on the phone with someone I met through Ebay to discuss renting 5 nights at OKW...we then called CR and booked the All Star for the bookend weekends. It was THAT trip we decided to purchase DVC...our every two years was become every 18 months, and God knew when that was going to close in. I just can't function in life if I DO NOT have a Disney reservation on the books.

Sorry this got to be so long and boring, I just started to ramble...GOD I LOVE DISNEY!!!!

I just voted diehard. In 2000 I schemed really hard to buy 170 points. Since then we had purchased a small resale and added on twice. Just got the papers for an add on at BWV. I am always on these boards reading and nosing around. I have even considered cashing in a small life insurance policy to buy more points! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
