I need to book at least one 2 credit TS for my next trip and just wondered which ones were really worth it? TIA :)

I have actually never dined at a signature TS requiring 2 credits. I'll be interested to hear others thoughts on this as well. We are planning on dining at Artist Point on our last night. I hope that this is a good pick!

For value per credit or for quality? Either way I'd pick either Artist Point or California Grill, though California Grill is probably better value for the credits. Also Brown Derby is really good food, but not a good deal value-wise, there are more expensive one-credit meals.

I'm curious, why "must" you book a signature restaurant?

I've eaten at all of the 2 TS restaurants as we almost exclusively eat at the signatures. We never do a dining plan so I'm not sure I can answer value wise. We means either DH and I or DH,me, our grown children--no young ones in our group.

I think the most expensive entree at any of the 2TS is the lobster or the surf and turf at Narcoosees. A lot of people rave about that place and I'm sure part of it is because of the cost if you were paying OOP. However, it's probably my least favorite 2TS place. I can have lobster at Red Lobster if that's what I want to eat. I'm not trying to flame anyone, it's just my opinion. The food is not unique here. It's not bad; just not exciting.

So for me, the first one I would pick is JIKO. The food is unusual. They have appetizers that are very very good and quite different, probably not stuff you can get at home. Also, there are a couple of entrees that are exceptionally good. The filet mignon with the mac n cheese is one of the best entrees on property. I don't think I've ever read anyone on here who had a bad thing to say about this dish and I've had it twice and just love it. Also, the short ribs are great. I wasn't thrilled with the fish dishes I have tried there. This is not a good place to take children though so if you have toddlers in your group, I would not go here. It's a very adult atmosphere, a place to go and have a nice glass of wine with your meal.

Next up would be Ca Grill. It's crowded and noisy but the view of the Magic Kingdom with the castle lights is amazing. Also, if you time your meal, you will have a great view of the Wishes fireworks. The food is sometimes better than other times but if you hit it on a good night, the food is very good. This is a fine place to take children as it's noisy already.

Third for me would be Flying Fish. Best place on the DDP to eat fish. Best variety and quality. It can be noisy here but it's worth the trip if you want to have a great fish selection.

Fourth would be Artist Pointe. 2 of their signature dishes are buffalo steak and a planked salmon. If you like salmon, this is probably the best on property. Also, the setting is quite beautiful. Kids are okay here. The tables are spaced adequately so you feel like you are not listening to the people sitting next to you (which you might feel at Ca Grill and FF).

Hopefully others who have tried all of the signatures will post and give their opinions.

Quality, I'm not bothered by best value especially as we're getting the DDP free!

We're there for 14 nights, our first night we will just crash early as the long flight and time difference from the UK will hit us then on our last day we have to go to the airport about 1pm! Last year we did two 2 credit meals CRT and HDDR :thumbsup2

Thanks for your great reply Pakey, with a 10 and 12 year old I'm definitely considering CG :goodvibes

I have the deluxe DDP for $32 a night. Isn't the bounce-back promo great? :goodvibes

I have so many credits to use, twelve-nights x three credits a night = 36 credits, though I may save some for random CS meals, I am planning on eating at every signature restaurant.

I've been to both HDDR and CRT before. I've actually been to CRT three times, in 1999 for breakfast, in 2005 for lunch, and this past February for dinner. I think I am definatly going to eat at CRT for breakfast again this trip, but I have too many choices to really decide on anything else, though I do have a list.

DH and I went on the grand plan once (now called the platinum) and we ate signature every night and had TS lunch every day at the nicer places. So I'm sending you this warning. Take sweat pants or something like that because you'll need them by the end of the trip. I gained so much weight that one trip that I did have to wear sweat pants home on the plane. We have a long flight and there was no way I was going to stuff myself into my jeans. :rotfl:

DH and I would end every day of the trip by moaning and groaning about all of the food we'd consumed that day. :lmao:

We love Narcoossee's. It is our new favorite. Definitely worth the 2 credits. they have an excellent variety of seafood. We are using the DDP this year to get a Signature Meal nearly every night.

We have eaten at all of the signature restaurants except for Victoria & Albert's, Flying Fish, and Artist Point.

Both Narcoossee's and Jiko are outstanding choices. In fact, they are our absolute favorite signatures, even over the California Grill.

Narcoossee's - The service and atmosphere are both wonderful and the food is excellent. Try the Prince Edwards Island mussels appetizer. My boyfriend got this last December and raved about it so much, that I tried it. I am not a mussels fan, but found this to be an amazing dish. He also got the filet as his meal while I got the whole lobster.

I'd be curious to hear if the above poster has ever eaten a lobster at Narcoossee's. If so, he'd/she'd find out very quickly that it is EXTREMELY different in quality and taste from Red Lobster. I have had lobster at both places and was blown away by Narcoossee's. It was served split so all of the work was done for me and it was absolutely wonderful. If you don't like fish, the filet was also exceptional. It was actually better than any other top restaurant we've enjoyed steak at before.

Jiko - Jiko is a very unique, top-notch restaurant. The food is what one would expect...different...because it is more ethnic, as the name and surroundings imply. We loved it hear and found the appetizers, entrees, and desserts to all be fantastic. I was also blown away by the filet and mac & cheese fish described above.

Le Chefs de France is another choice you might enjoy along with Le Cellier. If you need any other ideas, please let me know! :) I hope this has helped!

Yes I have had the lobster at Narcoosees. I've eaten there 4 times and I'm just not that impressed compared to the other signature places. And it's not close to V&A or Bistro de Paris.

I also forgot to mention Wolfgan Puck Upstairs in my earlier post. I'm not sure it's still on the dining plan but Upstairs has a very good dinner also. Another place that would have unique items if that is what you are looking for.

Wow lots of good recommendations, good job I've got another month and a half before I book my ADR's :thumbsup2

narcoosees!

love the whole lobster and the almond crusted cheesecake!

Narcoossee's for food, service and atmosphere. We were blown away with food presentation, taste and quantity. Also we were on the dining plan and our server couldn't say yes fast enough when we asked for subsititutions, etc (likely with your 10 and 12yr old). We felt like nothing was too much trouble there. They accomodate children very well here.

Try to go around 8pm or so you can have dinner and view Wishes from the deck. The music is piped into the restaurant and onto the deck. The boat launch from the MK drops you off right outside of Narcoosse's; couldn't have been an easier trip for us. Unlike California Grille you don't need a park pass to eat at Narcoossee's.

The mango smoothie was absolutely fantastic and counted as my beverage. I didn't expect or request a refill so not sure if that would be allowed. Frankly we couldn't finish our meals. I didn't order my own dessert. I shared a kid's banana split with my 6yo nephew. At least one person in your group should order the YOAMD Almond Crusted cheesecake. The presentation should not be missed. The taste is delightful and that's coming from someone who isn't too keen on cheesecake! My mother who loves and bakes cheesecake loved this one.

By the way someone mentioned Victoria and Albert's; V&A is not on the Dining Plan and is supposed to be above and beyond any other dining experience on site, so not a relevant comparison for this poster.

What is the bounce back promo?
