Which TS restaurant in MK (except CRT) or any of the monorail resorts make a really big deal over birthdays? My son is turning 6 and I am looking for a dinner venue where they will make his actual birthday extra special. I also plan to get him a custom birthday cake for dessert.

TIA

Does he have a favorite character? My first thought would be chef Mickey. I think another one, that does not actually have characters but a six year old would love is whispering canyon, all the antics make kids really love the place. Not sure about any others, one of my problem is we have all girls, so I'm not sure exactly what boys love, but I know our 4 yo loved chef Mickey, and she has always loved whispering canyon. The only other one she loves is 1900 fare but that is Cinderella also. She is 11 this year and wants afternoon tea for her special time. Just one other thought, I don't think anyone does birthdays up big at Disney, because they have 15 every hour or more, so I think it's more you at the table, family and friends. Disney will send over a cupcake, but that's about it, oh some ts do send over a card, I remember Tucker's and cry doing this, don't remember which other ones do.

Sometimes the resort does something special. We stayed at por when she turned 3, everyday for a week when in the lobby, she would dance around and say is it today I get to dance with the prince and she would start dancing and staff all got into it. Well when the day came, I walked thru lobby and when she asked I said after your nap you will dance with the prince. Two hours later we got a knock at the door from a doorman, who in rolled the scroll and read that she was invited to the ball by the prince. She to this day remembers the special invite with gold lettering and she did get to dance with the prince that night. I have never heard of anyone else getting this treatment, but it was special. We did have a friend working at Disney but she swears even now she had nothing to do with it.

I believe that it all comes down to the server, no matter which restaurant you choose. Please take this in the spirit this is intended: you need to be in charge of making your celebration special. If you want a cake, or treat, you need to order it. You cannot count on these restaurants to recognize your child's special day, even though you are encouraged to note it every time you call, or at each check in. Some servers are adept at including celebrations into their service, others not so much.

My DGD turned 6 in WDW, and on her special day at Le Cellier, the server never managed a Happy Birthday. Okay, DGD never noticed, and it was not the servers job. Then the next night we had dinner in Shutters, and the Chef had to speak to DD about DGD allergies, and since it was quiet at the time, the server had time to chat a bit. Before we left, the Chef, along with several servers came out with a special treat that was safe for DGD, and they made a huge deal for her. You just never know, and you should never count on even a cupcake. That way you are never disappointed.

We had our DD's 6th b-day celebration at Chef Mickey and it was perfect. The food is great. The characters are wonderful. We pre-ordered a small cake and got great photos of everyone. Our server explained that they would do one big happy birthday song with the characters for whole restaurant at the same time which was fine. It was Halloween so the pics of the kids in costumes with the characters are adorable. I highly recommend it.

My ds got a card signed by all the characters and a cupcake at Ohana for breakfast. I think hats about as "big" as Disney does it without paying for something extra. Disney floral and gifts was wonderful to work with last year. I did a "surprise from the dark side" that they delivered to our room while we were out at dinner the first day. The house keepers were really cute about moving the balloons around and sticking them in the window through the week. I know there is a lady unaffiliated with Disney that does gift baskets will deliver to the front desk too if you want to have a Mickey surprise done for him.

With my DS, it's easy: Legos and Star Wars which is why I plan to order him a stormtrooper cake.

That's such a sweet story about the special invite. Thanks for sharing.

Sound advice Nancy. Thanks.

1900 Park Fare dinner, and tell the stepsisters it's his birthday. They will fight over who gets to marry him.

A friend of mine took her 5 year old twins (one boy and one girl) there for dinner in December and they made the biggest deal over her son and did this! He LOVED it and it's one of the first things he mentioned to me when I asked him about his trip. Not the Buzz Lightyear toy she let him pick or the Toy Story ride or anything else, it was this! : D

We've celebrated my dd bday at WDW twice. The biggest deal we experienced was on her 4th bday at GF 1900 PF breakfast. The server brought out a giant cupcake with a lit candle, a signed placemat, and sang happy birthday to her. All unsolicitated by us. It was very sweet. When she turned 7 we ate at CRT and the server didn't even acknowledge her, which I thought was kind of crappy. I realize it's going to depend on who you get as opposed to where you eat.
