Which Tour?

So, I'm trying to decide which tour that I should book for my husband and I. I love Disney and my husband tolerates Disney. Originally, I was thinking to do Keys to the Kingdom Tour as I thought it would be interesting and I wanted to see the underground tunnels. However, now I'm starting to wonder if Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour would be better. I think it would be neat to see behind the scenes of rides like HM and I do love COP. On keys to the kingdom tour do you get to see any of the behind the scenes of any of the rides?

Which one would you choose to go on? I'm not worried about the cost and we have enough time to do either of them. I'm just trying to figure out which will be more interesting and give us more behind the scenes looks.

I'm doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour and one review I read said that you get to learn more about Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion. Not sure if that means you go behind the scenes, but I'm still looking forward to it. KTTK is 4.5 to 5 hours long, so depending on when you are able to book the tour, it will take up a good chunk of your day.

We just did KTTK a month ago. Now I want to do Marceline to Magic Kingdom!! We did not see any behind the scenes of attractions on the KTTK. I really, really enjoyed the tour. But my dh has read several books on Walt's life so most of what the tour guide told us was not new info to him.

You answered one of the questions I had about KTTK. I did Backstage Magic last year and came away a tad disappointed in certain parts of the tour, but overall I would recommend it if you are really in to seeing how things work backstage.

You will ride JC and HM (and maybe POTC, it was closed when we were there), and your guide will go into a lot of detail about how the attractions were created, people involved, interesting stuff but you don't go behind the scenes.

Take a peak at the VIP Ultimate thrills tour. It might be right up his alley for vip escourted access to the best rides and lunch at brown derby. It'll give him a little privilege but far cheaper than the normal vip tour guide price.

Backstage is a bit to expensive for me. I keep going back forth and just as I make up my mind on which tour that I want to do, I change my mind. I'd love to see behind the scene of Haunted Mansion and I love COP so it seems Marceline is the way to go but then I think about how I like JC and hearing more stories about HM and seeing the tunnels (even if not that impressive) would be cool. I think both tours will be fantastic but I'm don't want to do one and be wishing that I did the other. I am leaning towards Marceline but KTTK works into my likely schedule without having to change anything around.

While we could afford it, my husband would kill me if I spent that amount of money on the tour. I'm already planning on using my Christmas money for whichever tour I choose so he can't complain about costs…my husband is sweet and would do anything to make me happy but he does not like spending money

I just called and made a reservation for Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour. I decided I'd rather see behind the scenes of HM then the tunnels (especially since the tunnels sound not too impressive) and I love COP so it will be exciting to hear more about COP. I also think since this will be our first tour and I'm unsure if we will like it or not that going on the shorter one makes sense and we can always do a longer tour another time.

Allears.net says the tour is only Monday, Wednesday, Friday but the lady on the phone (who was very nice) said they have Marceline tour every day of the week and so she booked me on a Sat. at the end of Jan. for it. It will be on our last day which is kind of a bummer but the tour was full my other Magic Kingdom days. I'm going to probably call the week of the tour and see if there were any cancellations. The lady on the phone sad they get cancellations frequently and the sweet spot to getting one is usually 3-5 days before the tour. I'm hoping to score a cancellation on Jan. 28th because that will be closer to the middle of our trip and not the end.

Report back how you like that tour!

I will but it isn't till the end of Jan. 2016. I didn't see a lot of reviews on the Marceline tour and saw a lot on Keys to the Kingdom so I'm hoping I made the right choice. But let's be real, how could a tour with COP not be awesome. I'm also not going to read any more reviews on Marceline because I don't want to know everything that is going to happen on the tour.

I have not been able to find much on the Marceline tour either. I came back from our KTTK, having learned about the Marceline tour, and tried finding info. Not much out there. I also love CoP. One of my and dh's favs!

Here is a wild card suggestion. A few years ago DW and I enjoyed the Behind the Scenes Tour at AK. From what I read it continues to be highly rated.

I will also be interested in more trip reports on the Marceline tour. From the description it is high on our wish list.

We did Marceline to MK in May and absolutely loved it! We went 24 hour day, so we didn't get in an hour earlier than park open, but it was still great.
The tour is definitely worth it, I'm surprised it was as inexpensive as it is. Its completely focused on Walt and his influence over the company and the park itself. My DH and I are huge Disney fans and we still learned a ton! I really think you and your hubs will love it!

Another vote for Marceline. I have taken Keys two or three times and Marceline once. It is an excellent tour, and as said, very well priced.

Whichever tour you do take, remember the discounts....AP, DVC and Disney Visa, all 15%.

I haven't even heard of Marceline... I'm going to have to investigate this. I've done KTTK twice- once this past spring and 10 years ago. I found it fascinating both times and learned different information from both tour guides. FWIW, while the tunnels may not be impressive visually, they are very impressive in terms of their scope and how it connects the park. DH loved KTTK, but he is the type of person to really enjoy seeing the behind the scenes stuff and hear about how Disney presents itself to its customers since he works in HR :)

We haven't had the chance (or desire) to do Marceline. Enjoy it!

We have done KttK, UnDIScovered Future World and the Backstage Safari (which is pretty much Backstage Tales now). Of the 3, we found that KttK was the tour that really showed us the least. A lot of KttK was focused on Walt, with a few things here and there about MK. Basically, if you have read up on him or have seen things like "Walt: The Man Behind the Myth", a lot of the information gets repetitive. We just happened to have a great guide who was a lot of fun, which kept the tour entertaining. UnDIScovered Future World showed more behind the scenes at the different pavilions in FW, along with the main CM area and a few other areas. The Backstage Safari really shows how all the different animals are cared for (the different housing areas, the kitchen, the hospital). While MK is the place that everyone wants backstage peak into, the tours at EC and AK are much more enlightening.

The one tour you have not mentioned is the "trains" tour. It lasts about 3 hours and you get to go behind the scenes to the train round house and a full explanation about the various trains which just might interest your DH. I found it a great tour when I did it last spring and if you think it's only for us men folk, do you know there are more women train engineers at MK than men..so there !!!

We've done both the Keys to the Kingdom and Marceline.

Keys to the Kingdom was just the BF and me - we're both Disney nerds so we absolutely loved it.
Our trip a few weeks ago we chose to do the Marceline tour because several in our group hadn't been to Disney since they were kids and the BF didn't want them to be bored with a long, long tour. The people in our group that we thought were going to hate it ended up liking it a lot. While it does some of the normal "WALT DISNEY WAS AMAZING!" worship that the tours do, it did focus on some neat aspects of some rides and things. The ones in our group loved the background to Haunted Mansion part - and these were people who weren't thrilled with the ride itself (I know...).

DH and I did the KTTK tour in March and enjoyed it very much; we're deciding which tour to do when we go again without the kids in Jan. I was thinking Marceline but DH rather do one in another park, so now leaning toward UnDIScovered Future World.
BUT, I think Marceline sounds so good, even though your trip is a few months away please come back and post a review! As you said, there aren't that many reviews of that specific tour floating around :)
