Which to go to: Ohana or Cape May Cafe Clambake?

Okay, the day we are at the Studios on our trip, we are deciding between 2 different restaurants for dinner. We have 2 little boys, who will be 1 and 3 when we go in July. We plan to leave The Studios in the afternoon for some rest in the hotel room (POP Century), then go to dinner at a resort restaurant (Disney Dining Plan). Our 2 choices as of now are Ohana at the Polynesian and Cape May Cafe Clambake at the Beach Club (or Boardwalk? not sure which one exactly). Which has better food? Which is better for 2 little boys? Any input on either or both restaurants would be appreciated! We are already planning to go to Boma at AK Lodge after we rest after our day at Animal Kingdom (thought it would go nicely with the "theme of the day"!).

'Ohana, for sure. We ate there last Tuesday, Dec 11 and it was great. My 3 kids loved it, and everyone was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was after reading some of the recent reviews here claiming it had declined. We couldn't disagree more... it was a highlight of our trip, and the most "fun" dinner we had.

I'd go with Ohana too! We ate there last week also. Food is good and our service was great! We have the DDE card and before tip the final price of our meal was $44 for two adults. We both think that for the money, this is one of the best meals on property.

Oh we loved the Clambake! The food was so good, so many choices. I have eaten at Ohana and did not like the menu. I loved The Cape May Clambake(beach club) The variety of food, american and seafood was wonderful. This past August was the first time we ate there and all of us in a party of 8(some really picky eaters) said we will go back there every trip now!

if your a clam or mussel love cape may.......if not anywhere else would be a better choice

I love them both and just ate at both last week! I would go with O'hana though...love the atmosphere and food.

Based on our experience there last month, I wouldn't recommend Cape May for dinner (the breakfast actually was decent). The food was inconsistent, and most of it just wasn't very good. I haven't eaten at O'hana, but based on what we had at Cape May, I would choose O'hana.

I would probably pick 'Ohana for dinner. We have been to both of them but 'Ohana is our favorite.

I would choose Ohana. Cape May is very good if you enjoy clams and mussels and the likes, but their handle on crowd control is awful. All of the other WDW buffets allow a short wait to reenter the buffet, here there is basically one line through the buffet with a long wait for a buffet. Ohana, on the other hand, is amazing. The food is literally to die for and I promise you will not leave hungry!

We did both last trip, but if I had to choose only one with kids, I would probably go with 'Ohana. It was definitely a neat experience.

I had a bad meal at Cape May would never go back. That being said I really don't think seafood and buffet should be used in the same sentence.

Ohana was fabulous! My three year old daughter adored the singing and coconut races and we all loved the food. It was also very relaxing; we never felt rushed.

We tried to skip the Clam Bake this year but couldn't...made a last minute ADR the night before we left WDW and we are glad we did as the food was Great!
It's now 7 trips to WDW and 7 trips to Cape May's Clam Bake.

Cape May for sure. They also have a kids group of food too. Ohana's was a one shot deal for us. Food was boring and mainly meat!

We have dined in most of the restaurants at WDW and I must say that both Ohana and Cape May are ok but neither makes our 'favorites' list. (Boma and Jiko head our list). Ohana is a fun experience and the kids enjoy the games. Meat lovers delight in the food choices but if you don't worship meat there is not much else to choose from. I like my meat, but DW frowns at me when I overindulge. My family has too many non meat lovers to place Ohana high on our list.

Cape May, on the other hand, sounds like it should be a fish lovers paradise but the fish choices are fairly limited. Yes, there are clams and mussels (which I love) but they are very small and many of the shells are empty. It is not uncommon to bring a bowl of clams back to the table only to find many have no meat in them. There are other choices, meats, pastas, salads, but we are not crazy about the way the food stations are laid out. We have also had issues with poor service and longs waits to be seated (even with ADRs).

Basically, you can't go wrong at either restaurant, but there are other places that do it all better.

we did ohana sept, dec. 17th of this year and we are going back next week! we did the clambake in sept and we all loved it! we are going back there too next week. i love the boatride to the beach club!
can't wait!
