My DS (24 years old) and I are visiting Disneyland in May on a Saturday, Sunday and Monday ~ 3 nights at HOJO's. He is taking advantage of the SoCal tix discount. We plan to wake up early, avoid the lines, go back to the hotel pool and return and stay late at night. We have seen everything at WDW, but never have been to Disneyland. Which tix should we buy? Of course, we are looking to budget our monies:

2-Day, 1-Park Per Day Ticket
$ 149 00USD
2-Day Park Hopper Ticket
$ 189 00USD
3-Day, 1-Park Per Day Ticket with Magic Morning
$ 179 00USD
3-Day Park Hopper Ticket with Magic Morning
$ 219 00USD

Thank you!!!

If you're staying at the HoJo for 3-nights, that means you would have up to four days in the parks, unless you're planning on touring other locations in the area.

I think three-days is enough to get a sense of the parks, but not enough time to do everything. Two days will mean you have to prioritize the attractions and shows you want to see the most and there will most likely be some things you'll have to skip. How much you can get done depends a lot on when you're going to the parks. There is a marathon in May (Mother's Day weekend) along with the traditional kick-off to the summer season (Memorial Day weekend). Both of those weekends are likely to be quite busy, so it'll be harder to get a lot of things done.

DLR is much more compact than WDW, so I would strongly think about getting park hopper tickets. The two parks are only about 110 yards apart (you can see the ticket gates of one park from inside the ticket gates of the other park). Think of DL like Epcot's FW, DCA like Epcot's WS and the Esplanade (the area between) like the bridge that connects WS and FW. DLR's DTD is immediately adjacent to the Esplanade (e.g., it would be like stepping out of Epcot's International Gateway and being in DTD). I would get park hoppers because it means you can go to both parks on the same day, which is helpful if DL is open later than DCA (it can often be open an hour or two later) and it means you can go back to attractions you missed (or had to skip).
