Which Timeshare Resort?

We are planning our trip for Dec. 3-13. We are members of RCI and will be using our bonus vacation (first trip ever with timeshare). Here are some Timeshares that we are considering. It will be me, DH, and DD7......

HGVC (both)
OLCC
Homes at Summer Bay (is it possible to rent a home with a pool through RCI?)

Any others that we should consider? Location isn't too important as we will be renting a car so we can go to the ocean for a couple of days. This is our first trip to Orlando since our Honeymoon 10 years ago. Want to make it the best possible for our DD.

HGVC - one of the best!!!

either one - I prefer the one across the street from SW. but I LOVE SW.

the other one is closer to WDW.

HGVC are the nicest of these. OLCC offers the most extensive resort activities for all ages if you will be staying at the resort to relax (even has onsite golf and water sports). And the 3BR Homes at Summer Bay are indeed the pool homes located on one side of Summer Bay Resort, if that's something you would like (extra fee for pool heating, I suspect).

No extra fees for pool heating at Summer Bay. We stayed in one of the homes this past Easter and really liked it. Summer Bay is a bit further out (actually just a bit past Orange Lake) and they do have some nice pools and a lake..I would recommend it just for the size if the other units are smaller

are your dates correct....???

most timeshare are for a week

your dates would indicate 10 days


also make sure that those resorts are available through bonus weeks, sometimes what you are told and what is true in the timeshare "comeons" is quite different

the houses at summer bay are not usually rented through RCI but you can sometimes see them available for exchanges on search using a banked week if it has enough trading power through RCI

right now we can see summer bay houses available but at different times of the year when we search

you said you are using a bonus week with 2 - 45 days advanatage, you chances might be slim or iffy if you cannot use the bonus week to search for all available inventory through RCI, you might just be able to search their last minute inventory ...do not know what kind of "trading power" they give to a bonus week ...the week we are using to search has been banked two years

since you cannot search right now, it is hard to say what might be there at the end of october and beginning of november when your time span for the bonus week kicks in

Thanks for the great replies! We will only be staying at the timeshare resort for 7 days (Dec 3-10), then going to Daytona Beach or Tampa for 3 days.

Do I need to request a specific area for any of these resorts?

a lot of resorts assign rooms at check in

depends on where you will be staying, once you know which resort, come back here and post and someone will surely be able to give you the "lowdown" on best requests or areas to stay at in the resort
