I was going to go to the tanning salon before our trip in April. Then I got to thinking that I didn't want to do that because of the cost, price and health wise. Does anyone know of a good selftanner that works and doesn't look fake? I really don't tan while we are in Florida, because we don't spend much time by the pool. And I am so tired of coming home for vacation and everyone is like " Didn't you just get back from Florida? Where's your tan?.

I swear by Neutrogena sunless tanner. I use the light to medium, if you are olive skin, you may want to try the dark.

I haven't baked in the sun for many years, yet I always get compliments on my nice tan. When I tell people its fake they are always surprised. :)

Try it, I think you'll like it! Just remember to thoroughly exfoliate your skin beforehand, and wash your hands well after you are finished.

I use the Mary Kay one, and it always turns out great :) I think the most important thing, no matter what kind you use, is to exfoliate your legs first, then shave, and then rub the tanner in REALLY REALLY well. Its amazing what a difference the extra work makes :)

I use the same as Snoopy, mainly because my friend used to work at J&J and we got it really, really cheap - lol. But I get compliments on my nice tan too. I don't use it on my face, I can't get it not to be blotchy, I just have some bronzing powder I put on. Don't go to a tanning booth, the sun damage, wrinkle damage and possible skin cancer exposure is not worth it.

I would ask Willy, he will know the best buz for the buck.

oh.... you aren't drinking them?

sorry

It's very expensive, but the best thing I've found is this:

This is available at some tanning salons around the country. You go into a booth that sprays on the sunless tanning solution, in a fine mist. Very natural looking, with no streaks or runs, and you get all over coverage.

Neutrogena, most definitely. I like the spray, it dries in less than five minutes. :)

I work in a tanning salon and from what i say that is the only way to go. The mystic tan can streak, turn orange. the self tanners they self in stores can streak, I look at it this way, When you go to Disney you are in the sun, when you go to the beach you are in the sun for hrs. Tanning salons are controlled . Like anything else it is something you are either afraid of (like me traveling) or not afraid of. :D

I love the Neutrogena stuff, too. I'm a blonde with fair skin, and I use the dark one, and it never comes out too dark for my skin, its just right. I love how fast it dries, and that its not sticky or greasy feeling.

How do you put it on? Do you just put it everywhere? And if you dont use it on your face, where do you stop?

I love Summer Vacation by Origins. Doesn't look fake or orangey.

good luck.

Coppertone sunless tanning works the best, and no matter what your skin tone is you can choose the deepness of your tan. Just rub it all over and wait....the worst part is standing around nakie while it dries.

I'm an expert in bottle tanning. Did the whole tan bed thing when I was in college--thanks heavens I stopped 20 years ago!!

I've tried them all and, would you believe it, the No Ad tanning products work as well as the most expensive ones I've tried.
The trick is to use enough to get a smooth application--I do a dollop of the tanner and rub in a dollop of my lotion.

The No Ad is usually $2-4 cheaper per bottle (they're 16 oz compared to the usual 6-8oz) and I can stock up when they go on sale.
Use it with your regular lotion after baths and you'll keep a glow all year round. I started last week, every other day, and have a nice color.
Sure beats a skin cancer risk !
Just remember it isn't a sunscreen--No Ad makes that too, although I use Coppertone for the scent (nothing smells like summer more than Coppertone!!)

caity, the tanning salon I went to was $25 for a Mystic tan session. It really takes two sessions, within about 10 days, to get a nice color. If you were to try to maintain that, you'd have to continue to go every 10 days.

I used it twice, before a vacation, to get some color, and it looked very natural. But I don't think I'd spend the money to sustain the look indefinitely.

How about one that doesn't have THAT SMELL. You know the smell I'm talking about - it is just weird and it really bothers me. So, I end up avoiding self tanners completly.

Im sorry, I dont mean to be a pest, but how do you put it on? Like what about your hairline, eyebrow area armpits things like that. I am dying to try some but i dont want to look silly.:p
