Which SUV should we get?

We just bought an Equinox last week and we love it!!! We traded DH's little Saturn and believe it or not, with all the great deals our monthly payment will be the same as it was with the Saturn. I have a Volvo S40 and while I like it, I fell in love with the Equinox so I joke with DH that we will be trading soon...lol. If you're thinking of a family soon, I would go for the SUV even though gas will cost more. I don't care how big a sedan is, it's still a pain in the neck to bend down for car seats etc. And the storage room in an SUV cannot be beat.

I remember your fiance was hunting for a job ... did he find one he liked? Also, you're in teaching, right? Do you have student loans? Honest opinion? Keep the Saturn until you have your first baby. Spend the next two years saving for a new car, a wedding and a baby. I am six months away from my wedding now, and this event is a cash vacuum (ha), so I empathize as your peer in age.

We just bought a 2006 Saturn Vue and love it - it's an intermediate SUV and saves a fortune on gas, compared to the Ford Explorer we traded it in on.

Comfortable, fun to drive, and very nice looking.

Me too. I bought my first Honda when I worked for a GM subsidiary. I had two Olds, and it literally took two cars for me to have one that ran. Being a GM subsidiary we had our own car repair center - I almost always had one car there.

I honestly didn't know that you could drive a car without it breaking down on a regular basis until I bought Honda. We have a 10 year old Explorer and it has not been too bad, but I haven't trusted it on the highway in a couple of years. I travel on some pretty deserted back roads in AR (but not too far from Froggie) where I don't even get cell service.

I SWORE I would never buy a GM product again after being burn so bad so many times, but I broke down and bought a Pontiac Vibe last year, but it is made by Toyota. I want to trust it, but it will take awhile.

It's not American manufacturing workers that I have a problem with it's the management.

I'm soooo tempted to do something very foolish! But I still owe 6K on the car I have, so I guess I have to wait.

We bought an Equinox last week. We love it. My sister bought one last year and has had no problems with it. It gets pretty good gas mileage compared to some other vehicles we looked at. With the 0% financing (which I think is gone now unfortunately), we decided it was time to trade in my husband's 94 Grand Cherokee before it died on us.

I just bought a platinum Nissan Murano and I love, love it. We sold my Ford Escape and I could not be happier with the Murano. I feel like I am driving in a car and not an SUV, the ride is so quiet. It has a lot of room, we are expecting our first child in January and am so glad we picked this SUV, tons of safety features and just really nice to drive!

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue and Luv it. The new ones are even better. It is very roomy and a comfy ride. They are priced really well too and since you already have experience with the Saturn company you know how they do business and they have excellent service-at least in my opinion and experience over the years with both my Saturns.

It's not listed in the poll but we really like our Ford escape. We have more space than a car but it's not "trucky" feeling either. When the gas is just above the empty line, it has been costing $37.00 to fill.

I'm going through the same thing.

I like the Saturn Vue, Honda CRV and Rav 4.

For you, I chose the Rav 4 - it has the most style in my opinion and has a long line of success (Toyota).

However, Vue and CRV are great too.

I'm looking into getting a new car. My 3 door Saturn sports coupe just isn't cutting it with space anymore. My fiance and I are getting married next year and will be hopefully starting a family soon after, so I think it's time to grow up I've listed the ones I have seen so far that I like. The only real important things are leg/head room as we are both tall and good safety ratings. Things I would 'like' are:

a nice platinum color
Sirius/XM radio
multi disk CD
flip down DVD player
leather seats
sunroof
0% financing would be AWESOME because that's what I have now with my Saturn

i just bought a chevy uplander, 7 seater with power sliding doors, dvd with a 40 gig hard drive to hold movies, TV shows, video games and music, back-up assist, on-star, fully fully loaded.. love it to pieces... PLUS 0% financing!!
no satellite radio, but i have that already.

WOW! This is becoming harder and harder! It's so even across the board and there are even more options I like now that I hadn't considered before. What to do Does anyone know for SURE if GM is still doing 0% financing? I looked on their website and I don't see anything about it.

A couple months ago I bought a new Nissan Murano. I LOVE it. See below:

a nice platinum color- Yes, that's the color I got and love it.
Sirius/XM radio- Yes. I have the XM radio-built in- and love it.
multi disk CD- Yes. It has a 6 disc in dash CD player
flip down DVD player- I don't have this and don't know if it's available for the Murano.
leather seats- Yes. Beautiful, comfortable black leather.
sunroof- Absolutely
0% financing would be AWESOME because that's what I have now with my Saturn---Ummmm....I got 3% from Nissan. I don't think Nissan is offering anything near 0 right now.

I did all of the negotiating via email and it was a great experience. I would get the car again in a heartbeat.

DH and I rented a Ford Escape while we were on vacation this spring. It's really comfortable, easy to drive, plenty of room for 4 people and a ton of junk. I don't know about all the options you listed (DVD and stuff like that) The gas mileage was pretty good (21mpg overall - we were in San Francisco, down the PCH, etc so it got a variety of driving conditions)

We're planning on getting one probably next year. The gas for my truck is getting a bit much (12 mpg) with my longer commute now. I've been looking into the hybrid ones, but still haven't gotten all the details on battery price and replacement schedule.

The Tribeca is a dream- I thought my Outback was smooth- the Tribeca is just luxury. I hope you can pay off your other car soon so you can join the Tribeca tribe!

Not on your list but I was given a 2006 Subaru Tribeca as a loaner while my car is in the shop for a few days. I found I love it and will have a hard time giving it back . Nice sized smaller SUV with all the bells and whistles you want. Runs and rides great. Very impressed.

we got a b9 tribeca before we went to disney. love it....my dad is 6'2 its perfect for him....and my mom is 5' she loves it too.....it adjusts great and for 2 kids in the backseat it couldnt be better.......my whole family loves it..........and you can get with lots of things!

if you wanted to go with a car because of gas id go with a la saber (sp??) its really roomie.....we rented that after our car got stolen (hence the reason we have the tribeca) that thing...didnt look big but inside......it was like being in the 4th harry potter movie...when the tent looks like nothing but when you went inside it was big!

I had my mind set on another Jeep, but now I'm not sure. I had a Subaru in the 80's and liked it very much except for the tranny troubles. I got rid of it after the third one failed on the Cross Bronx Expressway (anyone who knows that road is gasping right now)! They certainly have come a long way and like I said, I was very impressed. My dealer sells both so when the time comes I have both bases covered.
