Which studios will sleep 5 in summer 2015?

I know that VWL, BCV, and BWV are all planning on a refurbishment that will expand studio capacity from 4 to 5. My question is when will this take effect? Can I currently book a studio for my family of 5 in one of these hotels for next summer (i.e., August)? My understanding is that VWL was first and the other two are scheduled for next year, but I don't know if there are any proposed completion dates. I know that VGF sleeps 5 as will the Poly. Thanks!

The refurbishment at VWL is complete and allows 5 in Studios.

DVC has not given a time frame (other than 2015) for refurbishments at BCV & BWV.

We booked online for 5 mid-July at VWL and it offered BWV as an alternative.

They have allowed 5 in the BWV studio for years but without the fifth bed (although some of the dedicates have a daybed (years back all the dedicateds had that daybed). Thus, that it is offered as an alternative to BCV does not tell you anything. In fact, BCV has been the same so the fact that you can reserve for five does not mean you will get one with the new pull down bed.

All we know is that the changes will occur in 2015. Usually when they do these refurbs, they take out only a small number of rroms at a time, finish those and then move on to more with the result that the complete change over can take a year. In the interim they will open the ones with the changes as they are finsihed and thus you simply end up in a position for about a year where it is just luck of the draw whether you get a new or old room.

That's interesting because I actually called and member services told me I couldn't book BWV yet. They had no available date.

If you were looking to book August at 7 months, you were too early to book anything but your home resort.

Prior poster was booking mid July which should be open for 7 month booking.

Thanks but that wasn't the reason. I specifically asked if I could book a BWV studio for 5 at the 7 month mark and she said no.

For the fun of it, I checked the online system using November dates. It allowed 5 for a pool/garden studio but not for standard or boardwalk views.

I suspect this is a glitch in the online booking system same as the glitch allowing online to book 5 plus an infant in BCV BWV 1 bedrooms. The online system does not seem to be able to come with too many variabilities in booking categories.

Last year, in early March, Disboards members were posting that the refurb at VWL was almost complete. Yet it still wasn't an option to book 5 in a studio, even for eleven months away. And in fact, the primary MS phone answerer CM tried denying to me that there was any plan for expanded studio capacity whatsoever. After talking to a supervisor, they overrode the system and let me book a late October studio trip for five, since it is my home resort. But it was months later, and well after the refurb was finished, before the system was updated to allow the five person studio bookings.

If the system worked like it should, DVC would have the expanded studio capacity available for stays beginning about a month after the refurb is scheduled to be complete. This would allow members to book now (or soon) for travel reflecting the expanded capacity, while still giving a cushion of time if there are construction schedule over-runs. I guarantee this is the way it would work if all these rooms were cash-booking lodgings. So why isn't it that way for DVC? There's no extra money to be made, so DVC administration doesn't really care.

Yes because it doesn't really make sense that 5 would be allowed in a pool/garden view but not in a standard or boardwalk view (at least, I don't think it makes sense). I also checked at BCV and the system will not allow 5 in a studio (and BCV is undergoing renovations first). I'm going to call MS again tomorrow. If I'm allowed to book it online, I'm not sure if they would honor it or not. I'm not trying to circumvent the system, I'm just trying to figure out what the system is!
