Which beach did you visit in St. Thomas and were you happy with your decision?

We may just go to a beach on our own and it would be helpful to get some Disers comments and opinions.

Thanks!

I've been to most of the beaches on St. Thomas. My personal favorite is Sapphire Beach, because it has probably the best snorkeling on the island. Coki is probably a close second for snorkeling. For just lounging on the beach, any of them will do, but I'd say go with Magens Bay, because it's so large. All are easily accessible via cabs.

You can also consider going over to St. John on your own. My favorites there are Cinnamon and Trunk Bays.

Thanks Lloyd!

Are all of those beaches "family friendly"? (no nude bathers?) I remember having to worry about that on our last Eastern DCL cruise.

Yes, they are family friendly. None of the beaches on St. Thomas or St. John are topless. That's really only an issue on St. Maarten, and there really only on the French side.

Enjoy your trip!

We'd like to hit a St. Thomas beach on our own after our Atlantis Submarine Adventure ends about 11:45. Any recommendations on which beach to choose to allow us some time on the beach with enough time left over to make it back to the dock before departure? I'm not sure of the logistics for getting around St. Thomas.

We'll be snorkeling in St. Maarten and at Castaway Cay, so while good snorkeling would be nice, that's not the primary consideration. Mainly looking for a place for the kids (12 & 8) to enjoy some good wave action.

We've been to Megan's Bay and loved every minute of it. No waves and beautiful.

I looked at DCL excursions and it looks like they have one beach excursion.

Are there any beaches we can go to on our own that are safe for me traveling alone with my 2 and 6 year old sons. Family friendly, nice sand, restrooms etc.

If so did you take a taxi or could you help with the details? Can't decide if we should go to a beach in St. Thomas through DCL or on our own or do the excursion that takes you up to the top of the island for viewing................we could do a beach in Antigua?

Thanks for any info!

For us not to worried about topless beach goers but it sounds like it is not a problem in St Thomas. My boys are only 3 and 6 and have been to Playa and I am taking them again Next month and in Playa there is a lot of topless sunbathers......now when they get older  that will be an issue!
