Hi - can anyone recommend which sling is best for 22 month old DD? Are there any websites you can recommend to buy from? She used to love the Baby Bjorn when she was younger, and I'm thinking she'd really like a sling too. I think I'll really like it to keep her close when we're on lines waiting for rides and stuff!
I started researching the different types available and am confused by all the different choices! Btw, she is probably about 24-25 pounds, if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance!

Sling for 22 months old? I think I would recommend a backpack instead. That's what we used for hiking, trips to the museums, renfests, etc. when our kids were that age. They're up higher. They can see further. They have room to move their arms and legs. They're much happier :)

Not many people seem to know about the Ergo carrier, which is similar to the bjorn except it holds much more weight. You can wear it on the front or back. Our twins will be 2 yrs old, around 26# and 30#, and the Ergo feels great. It is on several different websites, but we purchased ours on
www.earthbaby.com

A regular backpack carrier would be ideal, but we need to be able to fit them under our stroller and also we're not sure where we'd store them when getting on rides.

I love the Ergo and the Kozy for kids that age. I think either of those would be perfect. They're cool, and she'll be able to see well.

Thanks so much! This is all great info. I hadn't heard of the Ergo carrier, but it looks just like what I'm looking for. I like the fact that it's soft so I can throw it under the stroller when we're not using it. I think she just might sleep in it, too, since our whole nap schedule is going to be thrown off when travelling and she'll probably be grabbing naps whenever she can! She used to love sleeping in the Baby Bjorn.
Anyway, thanks again for all the advice!

I use the New Native Sling for my 27 month old. She's 26 pounds and loves it. It fold sooo small and she just pops in & out - no straps to try to figure out. DH loves it too. I have the dark denim so it looks "manly" when he carries her. Also a dream to get a sleeping baby out of - just slips off. I LOVE it - I didn't get the "right" one until my 3rd child and wish I had this since my first!

We took my DS when he was 21 months (almost 22 months) and we didn't use any kind of sling. He liked standing in the lines - there was always something to keep him interested and I think only once did he ask to be picked up. Maybe he was the exception instead of the rule at that age.

Another good thing about the Ergo is that it has a "hood," which is a piece of material that you can either leave tucked in the front pocket or else pull it up to support the child's back and head. I'm sure you can see how it works on the website. It does make it very easy for the child to sleep.

I too use the New Native sling -- you will not find an easier-to-use or more compact sling than this. My son has used and loved it since he was a week old. And, as mentioned upthread, it comes in great, non-baby colors too. Ours is black!

Here is a thread that I posted. I just got it and it was reasonable in price compared to similar items and it is the one that I liked the most of all of the options. We plan on using it in the longer lines and then throwing it into our stroller the rest of the time.
