Getting in late for a 5 Night stay in Sept for Free Dining and we'll have an extra TS credit because with Food and Wine, we skip a meal. We usually do a character breakfast on our way out, but were thinking of using the 2 credits on a really nice meal that we wouldn't normally get. I was thinking...Brown Derby, Paddlefish/Boathouse/STK. What do you think? TIA

We had fabulous meals last week at Jiko, Artist Pointe, and California Grill. I have never been to any of those that you have listed. Enjoy!!

I don't know what kind of park pass you have but I would use that to help me make a choice. No AP? I'd eat outside the parks on such a short day.
With an AP of course you can eat anywhere you want.

We've eaten at Boathouse a few times and enjoyed the raw bar, steaks, various chops and dockside buckets as entrees; some nice choices for starters as well. After such a heavy meal we generally opt for an ice cream or sorbet but once the table next to us had the whisky caramel cake and it looked mighty tempting.

I love the ambiance and food at BD and hope the corn crab chowder is back on the menu when I return. If it isn't I'll console myself with the beef carpaccio that the man gobbled down before I got a taste and prolly a Cobb salad. Definitely need their mini trio of desserts again.

Never been to Paddlefish and really have no current need to visit STK in FL; I can eat there at home.

We have an STK in NYC. As a weird rule of thumb, while on vacation, we try and stay away from places and things you can get anyplace else. I know we kinda break that when we stuff our faces at Sprinkles, but for restaurants we try and stick to places unique to Disney. Worth noting that STK is loud and very much feels like a hybrid club/restaurant.

Never been to Boathouse but it's on the list.

Brown Derby is good. It's often forgotten about. We had friends down in Disney during Easter. They had lunch here and really enjoyed it.

We love Narcoossee's, enjoyed Artist Point, and are big fans of Yachtsman. Honestly? My thinking is this: you have free dining. Let's throw away the idea of "wasting TS credits". To me, I'd spring for a place I wouldn't normally go to. I'd do Cali Grill just because I wouldn't pay OOP to go there, it's a Disney classic, and if times right, you can get an awesome view for the fireworks.

Yes, Sprinkles' is my exception to the rule as well and I suspect that given half a chance I could eat breakfast, lunch, AND dinner there...oops, LOL.
Spot on review of STK.

We are the same. We have Morimotos in Philly and we live quite close, so we never get to try Morimoto Asia. One of these days we may cave. It always looks really good!

We had an amazing meal at brown derby last week. 5 out of 7 of our party ordered the Filet and it melted in our mouth. One ordered the fish and then one kids meal ---we all LOVED our meals and would definitely go back.

I agree with the others to do a nice Signature. Look at a menu, decide what looks good, and make your decision. That being said, I'm not sure I'd do either BD or Paddlefish. We like the Derby well enough, but it doesn't quite have the ambiance or cachet of some of the others, partially because it's in a park. As for Paddlefish, it's a definite step below Signature status. Food uneven, service mediocre based on two visits. I'd opt for Jiko, Artist Point, and if you want iconic Disney, CA Grill. It can be inconsistent and is rather noisy, but it's hard to beat the location and view of MK.

How was California Grill?
Everyone has different taste....but the last 3-4 times ive been to Cali Grill my meals were all disappointing to say the least. I wont be going back. The best meals i've ever had was at Artist Point though. INCREDIBLE from start to finish every single time I visit.
Yum. :cloud9:
