I have tried to do a search and have come up empty. (Tried several different ways of wording the question.) Anyway, I know this has been discussed before, but which savannah should I request?:confused3 We have a 1 bdrm savannah view booked in Kidani Village for May 2010. I remember a thread that listed the different savannahs and which animals were on each savannah.

Thank you in advance for your help.:flower3:

There are two savannas for Kidani, Sunset and Pembe. Sunset is the huge one which most savanna view rooms overlook and Pembe is the one above the northern end of the building. Pembe is the one that just opened and the one that is supposed to have the okapis rather than giraffes

Hi we just came back from Kidani and I would suggest the Sunset savannah The Pembe runs along the back of the left side and in some places is very narrow. There are 2 okapi and small deer like animals, you could see them from the viewing area by the pool. The main one is Sunset and has 5 giraffe, several zebra, ostrich, cattle like animals and cranes. We had a great stay and I can't wait to go back.

It sounds like Pembe has very few animals at this time. Be aware too though, that Sunset is a large savanna, and the animals can move around a lot during the day. You might be lucky to have an area with good viewing, or you might be in an area where the animals don't ever come really close.

Pembe has okapi, red river hogs, hornbills and other animals but no giraffes and I believe no zebras either. If you prefer to see giraffes from your balcony then request Sunset. Also, the rooms overlooking the Pembe Savanna are in the upper half of the north wing which puts you as far as you can get from Jambo House. We love to walk so it wouldn't bother me to hike the 1/2-3/4 of a mile over to Jambo from a Pembe room but it could be a consideration for some people. On the other hand, it will put you either very close or relatively close to Kidani's pool area.

The rooms across the hall from the Pembe rooms face the Sunset Savanna so it's also possible to get a room facing the Sunset Savanna and be 3/4 of a mile from Jambo House.

Hi, can I ask which floor would be best for viewing animals with a sunset savanna room?

Hi....

I was wondering what the chances are of booking a Savannah view and hardly seeing any animal action from the balcony. We are considering AK for a May trip - 7-month window opens this week - and am just trying to figure out if the SV is really worth the premium in points that we will pay for it. If the animals are right outside the balcony then I certainly think it is worth it, but it sounds to me from some posts I've read that it can be very "hit or miss" and I think I might just cry if we spring for the SV and there is very little to see.

For those who have stayed SV can you give some feedback as to the likelihood of having decent animal activity within view...

I would really appreciate it! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the responses. I think I will request Sunset savannah. I really would like to see giraffes and zebras. I would also like to know which floor has the best view? I realize I will not be guaranteed my request, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
