Which rule to enforce next?

But this policy is Blind in more ways than one, because for every line cutter who doesn't get antagonized, there are 150 law-abiding Guests who ARE antagonized and want to know why that guy gets to cut in line while we're waiting patiently.

It's funny we are talking about enforcing "Line" rules. When we were there in May, DB, DBIL, and myself got in line in Toon Town to meet Cinderella, Jasmine, and Snow White. DBF went to the bathroom. When he came back, he was told by the CM guarding the line that he wasn't allowed to join us. Something about the Princesses have to get to the parade on time. I was like we are all only taking one picture with each of them but the CM wouldn't let him in. Not a minute later, someone ran past the CM and got in line with their family. The CM went up to the family and repeated the rule and said if i have to tell everyone else that they can't get in line then it's not fair if I let you in...but he didn't make that person leave the line again. I was SOO mad! :furious: Here's another vote for line enforcing. It's one thing when 3 people are in line and are later joined by a 4th person as opposed to 1 person saving a spot for 3 people.

Another vote for the "only smoking in designated area" rule.

And I am a smoker. It really irks me when I see other people wandering with cigarettes. Grrr. I can haul my butt to the smoking area, you can too pal.

After reading these I think I would like to see this one:

If you do not have a shred of common sense please stay home rule. :rotfl2:

I have a nephew-in-law that is a Swat Policeman. I have a picture of him in my head when I think of Mickey Police. :lmao: Nobody would do anything wrong in his presence.

(Choose only one)
(1) Should'a called DBF on the cell phone and have him come back into the line at that moment.
(2) What was DBF supposed to do? Pee in a bottle?
(3) Or at least stop by Guest Relations and point out the inequity, naming names and asking for free Mickey ice cream bars for yourself and DBF. (The purpose of the latter is to make heads upstairs roll, not to rot your teeth and give you a freeze headache.)

oooh , oooh, oooh...are those the same people who summit at the bottom (or top) of an escalator?
(Choose only one)
(1) Stand behind one or two of them and eavesdrop, perhaps adding a relevant comment or asking a relevant question.
(2) Yell "Quit pushing back there" as you walk right through.

LOL about what to do with the groups gathered at escalators exits and in the middle of walkways!! :rotfl: I should try it but I'm too shy!

Can't help but think that a little bit of enforcement might go a long way. If people KNEW they'd "get in trouble", fewer would cross the line.

Park guests are like students... they know the teachers that are strict, and they act accordingly. :teacher:

(OT>>> Okay, this is two posts in a row I've referenced teaching. Gee, can ya tell school starts soon?)

1. I would make people flush the toilet after they use it.
2. If they make a mess of the toilet seat, they would have to clean it.
3. Kick anyone out who fills the toilet so full of toilet paper it won't flush.

We were waiting to get on Kilamanjaro Safari. We were waiting on the fastpass line, and two teenage girls were in front of us. Out of no where, eight or so of their friends run up and join them. Ten skimpily dressed girls taking our place in line! We made loud comments that amused some other disgruntled people like, "Isn' it so rude to cut lines like that. It happened on another ride and the people got sent to the back of the line." The CM taking the fastpasses was there, and we expected him to do something because he had seen the whole thing. Guess what the clown does! He goes and flirts with them!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious: :furious: Talk about lack of enforcement!!!! Luckily, they didn't preclude us from getting on our rightful car. If they did, we would have gotten very upset and seen someone higher up. Unfortunately, when we did get on, the unusually good view of the animals was marred by cell phone ringing and incessant chatter.

back at Disneyland when I was age 12, so it would have been 1970 or so, and my brother were age 10, we got in a very LOOOONG line for the matterhorn. It was so long, the line, that it split in the middle to let traffic through. We joined the line right after the "split" -- I'm pretty sure we knew we hadn't waited through the whole thing, but it was also ambiguous enough, that it sort of looked like the whole thing. We waited another 45 minutes, and, as we got into the cars, Disney security came and removed us, and told us that line-breaking would not be tolerated. They had watched us all that time, and waited just until we got to the front.

We protested in vain that we thought we had gotten into the line at its end, and that no one had said it wasn't the end of the line. I still remember the waves of shame and humiliation. It's one of my worst memories.

ITA!! No one likes to find a toilet seat that way, so why would they leave it that way?...Another HUGE pet peave of mine is also kind of gross, I HATE when people use the bathroom, wipe themselves, and throw that NASTY paper into the trash, people PLEASE FLUSH IT! this isnt some cheap toilet with a faulty septic system, the lines will not explode if you flush the toilet paper.
Sorry I know that was gross, but I find that as one of THE MOST disgusting things EVER!

Disney's current policy on rule violations in the parks seems to be the Blind Eye policy, with the intent to avoid antagonizing those who break the rules and might cause a stink.

I'm not so sure it's a blind eye policy so much as an "I don't get paid enough" policy. And I would agree.

I've seen cast members approach someone who is breaking a rule - only to be lambasted, humiliated, or flat out screamed at. For $7 an hour? They're better people than I am. Because I wouldn't put up with that kind of treatment for such meager pay.

HMMMM, Note to self....Always be armed with full squirt bottle to "accidentally" extinguish lit cigarettes! Oops, sorry, I didn't realize my bottle was turned the wrong way!
HEY! That would be yet another GOOD use for the Camelbak backpacks! Have water/will extingush! Come near my son with that butt and it WILL go down!I'm buyin' one for sure!

I'm on board wth all of these "rules!!!! Especially the deoderant! :lmao:

I'm not sure it is a "blind eye" either. Enforcement is a job for security people, not regular cast members.

How about no wrist band please make your way to the EXIT.

Thats for EMH , MNSSHP , MVMCP or any other hard ticket event.

A great idea!

It would be nice if Disney made the moochers march the walk of shame out of the park at the start of the event.

1. NO large group cutting in line-it only takes 2 people to "just run to the rest room" with little Johnny or Grandma.
2. Keep it clean and covered. Everyone will keep the "private" in "private parts". Men will keep their shirts on no matter how hot it gets, and ladies will not wear bikini tops to the theme parks. No vulgar themed T's or anything that denigrates anyone's religion or politics. The last time I was there I saw three men without shirts, lots of women in bikini tops (and they all weren't teenage girls either) and a T-shirt with a phrase on it that I can't even write here.
3. NO SMOKING except in designated areas. We were about choked to death waiting for the Spectromagic parade back in June. These two ladies in front of us chain smoked the entire time.
4. If you are asked by a CM to please adhere to the rules and you argue or get nasty with that CM-you are out.

Attending Disney is a privilege, not a right. Just because you paid $70 to get in there, doesn't give you the right to do whatever you please and affect the safety and enjoyment of others.

I totally agree with you on these. :thumbsup2

Those of us here on the DIS are something of a special breed. Most of us are repeat Disney Guests who can let the Magic happen despite those who break the rules and impose their rudeness, carelessness, recklessness or unsanitary habits on those around them. We realise the difficult position Disney is in as a business, and don't allow our vacations to be ruined by the buffonish antics of a few morons.

Can we send this entire post to WDW management? The point made here is excellent. How many people have had negative experiences because of some of these losers and didn't "catch the Magic"? Yes, Disney has millions and millions of fans worldwide, but every time we lose one person to the careless and thoughtless acts of a few losers it diminishes the whole. (wow-that was certianly waxing philosophical)

Ok I have to add mine. How about some kind of rule for the rude people that don't pay attention that you are pushing a stroller. They merge into the front of you and almost fall on your child.

I am very carefull not to run into people but so many people don't care and jump in front of you and get hit. Then get mad at me.

the flash photography thing for sure drives me nuts
I also strongly dislike the videotapers- I find the lights from the LCD monitors on most modern camers incredibly distracting in dark shows/rides. Plus isn't there some copyright infringement issues there?
A word about the 'CM's don't get paid enough to enforce the rules' thought- that is what they get paid for (or at least partially). I worked as an usher at a theater and the pay was comparable to a Disney CM's and we had to enforce the rules. I hated doing it but it was part of the job. Although I also think that if the CM doesn't see the incident and receives a complaint it isn't fair to 'expect' them to do something since basically it's heresay if they didn't see it.
