As a family of 5, we usually book a two bedroom.

For our next trip, we booked a one bedroom for 4 of us. Two months later, we will have 5 of us in a two bedroom again.

Our last trip, we had 6 in a GV.

We use the kitchen for breakfast every morning. Also have dessert/snacks, when we return from the parks.

We also use the washer/dryer.

We like that we have options w/DVC.

As a family of 6, we always booked 2 bedrooms. Had a grand villa once. DH and I are going alone in January and staying in studios (lack of points for 1 bedroom for as many nights as I would like to stay).

Bottom line, to answer the question - 2 bedroom villas.

DH and I stayed most often in studios. With extended family booked 2 bedrooms at Kidani for that extra bath, once the Treehouses. Now that I travel alone, studios or with one adult child studios. Well for upcoming F & W trip, couldn't get a studio last night of stay so splurged on a 1 bedroom at OKW. I will enjoy that whirlpool tub! Maybe even go home with clean clothes! Oh forgot, we used to book 1 bedrooms at HHI, especially when the point requirements were very low.

So, while these are very small numbers in the poll which is on a site that represents a very small % of actual DVC owners...
We keep hearing how 1BRs are the last to go - but they lead the poll.

We do studios for our adult trips, and at least a one bedroom for our family of three trips. Our rule of thumb when traveling with guests is that no one is sleeping on the pullout couch. We want to be able to use the living room to relax, not tiptoe around sleeping guests.

We just tried our first family stay in studios and we learned very quickly they are not for us. Nothing like sitting there in the dark, freezing and hungry to make you wish your son was sleeping in the master so you could get up, put on a sweatshirt, and eat some food without waking him from his precious nap. Never again!!!

We go for one bdrm on trips to mainland (Cali and flo) we like the w/d so we can pack light. Use the kitchen for light meals. Space is always a plus.
Mostly studios when staying Aulani cause it's usually only a couple of nights and we don't stay in the room.
But it is good just to go to DVC for a whole vaca or just a quick getaway!

The length of stay is really our deciding factor. I voted studio since most of our trips have been short book-end stays around cruises. If we were staying 4 nights (that is our "cut-off") or more, we stay in a one bedroom for the two of us.

We prefer 1 bedroom villas, especially at BLT, which is one of our home resorts. Have been spoiled there by having 2 full bathrooms for 2 people.

We are a family of 4 and have stayed at both studios and 1BR. Though I enjoyed the extra room of the 1BR, the kitchen was a complete waste. One of the big reasons we love Disney is the food and great restaurants. I have no interest in cooking on my vacation. I want to stay in the nicest resort I can for the least amount of points. All of us can enjoy the resort the same as if we were in a 1BR-2BR at a fraction of the cost. I can't see that changing unless I was staying at a low point cost resort where the 1BR are close to the studio price at VGF. We aren't in the rooms long enough to have the extra room be worth it. If we are at the resort, we are swimming or dining or out in the sun. Generally, we're only in the rooms to zonk out at night and shower and get ready in the morning. Studios are perfect for that. Though we only have 4, I could certainly see us bringing one of the boys friends sometime.

We're a family of 4, but we almost always travel with someone. Either we travel with family, or with friends, for the majority of our trips. I think we've only done 2 trips in the last decade without someone with us, and one of those was before we bought into DVC. We almost always get a two bedroom, although occasionally we now get Grand Villas. We don't do studios, unless we're coming in late and just need a place to crash for a single night before we more to our actual room.

Since I'm single I usually book a studio (that's all I need) but I have several friends that are DVC members as well and together we have stayed in larger rooms including a Grand Villa (once).

We book a 1-BR even though it's just the two of us. We enjoy the king-size bed, washer/dryer, kitchen and a living room separate from the bedroom.

We are in the same situation. It is just the wife and I but for the washer and dryer alone we get the 1BR. The extra space and kitchen is a big seller too, but between the washer/dryer and Owners Locker we can really pack light.

It all depends. Usually Studio or 2-BR though. If it's just my wife and myself, Studio is fine. But we like to bring people with us. Whole other families or extensions of ours. So 2-BR is what we most often get. We've stayed in a GV once. It was alright. Our next trip will be a 2 BR. 2 sets of parents each with 1 child: 3 and 9.

If it's just my fiance and me, we will book a studio. We love having the 1-bedroom, but we only have 100 points. We get spoiled with the 1-bedroom when we get an exchange into DVC with our RCI.

My brother comes with us sometimes, and he will bring a friend sometimes too. With that 3 or 4, we will do a 1-bedroom instead of 2 studios because I love having the washer/dryer in room, and the big fridge for our alcohol! We will cook eggs but don't really use the kitchen for much cooking. We do just fine sharing 1 bathroom (own at BWV) since we're normally not rope-dropping. We do need to transfer in points when we do this.

If we were 2 couples though, it would be 2 studios.

After a couple of trips with our kids and my inlaws, in a two bedroom we have decided that going forward we will simply book two studios. It's cheaper, and it prevents me from having to spend any extra time in the family room with my in-laws.

I generally travel solo, I book a studio for myself. When I travel with my son, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren I book a 2 bedroom

If it's just Bruce and I we go for 1BR. If our 2 kids come with us then we get a 2BR. We love the kitchens for all breakfasts and half of our dinners. We love the king sized beds and the laundry facilities.

Most trips these days are just DH and I since our kids are all adults and only occasionally travel with us. We always get a 1 bdrm for a several reasons....we have a king bed at home and it's difficult to sleep in a queen size when you're used to the king size, we like having a w/d in unit and we do use it practically daily...since it allows us to travel very lightly...when going for a week we take three to four days clothing AND go home with all clean clothes and last, but, not least we love having the full kitchen.......since on some trips we DO eat mostly in ....but, even on the trips we don't we still like having the kitchen. We have stayed in a studio on occasion, but, find ourselves missing the extra space of the 1 bdrm. When our kids were younger we mostly got 2 bdrms (we bought when they were teenagers) and these days we take our 13 yr old grandson with us at least every 18 months so a 1 bdrm is a necessity on those trips.
