Which Room @ POLY?

We like Tokelau as well. Larger rooms and if you stay on the 1st floor on the non-pool side of the building, you can open your sliders and the kids can run around in the yard.

:thumbsup2

We loved Tokelau. That building will be our request when we stay at the Poly again. Perfect distance from both GCH and TTC!

Please explain the upgrades, what exactly should you say? Are there any free upgrades? If you dont ask, will they offer it to you?

I am bumping this because I want to know too!!! We are a family of 5 and for our January trip we are between the Poly and the all star family suites. I am looking at more room and 2 bathrooms for less $$$, but my hubby hates the buses!! So, we are back at the Poly. Stayed here once in 02 at the Aetourea(sp?)--it seemed we walked forever to get to the GCH!! My kids loved the room-and the bathroom was great! If someone woke up early it didn't wake every one up!! But, I am curious about the upgrades---asked about it last time at the BC and the girl just looked at me like I was crazy!

Free upgrades are totally random and can happen anytime so you just got to be lucky. If the Resort has the room guests are able to pay for a specific upgrade, however just because they have the room does not mean you would get the upgrade for free.

Hi - We were at the Polynesian this past January with our family. I had requested Tahiti and much to our surprise we were upgraded to Hawaii. Our kids loved the Hawaii building as did my husband and I, however I think it is not that common to get an upgrade. We were also at the Wilderness Lodge about 4 years ago and I asked if they had any availability in the suites or villas and the girl told me right away no. I was intending to pay for the upgrade but it did not happen and all worked out as we had a great room. My advise is if you want a particular room you should book it and not expect an upgrade. For our family we would have not paid for Hawaii but since we were upgrade we just loved it and probably will save extra money next time for the Hawaii building (Concierge). Have a great trip.

I got an upgrade at POR the very first time I ever went to dis. It was a pool view (quiet pool) on the third floor in the Bayou. Not really an upgrade after coming from the POLY..They had tried to charge me for it at the reception area and the CM took awhile trying to figure why there was any charge since I had paid in advance..they finally said they had to make a change to my reservation 'last night' (whatever that meant) and had upgraded the room..
So, I dont know about upgrades. This one seemed by accident, like they had booked all the cheap rooms before I checked in..except I checked in at like 3:05...i dunno..it was our "not necessarily an upgrade..upgrade."

We'd reserved a standard, garden room view at the Polynesian. When we checked in, we just asked if we could be upgraded to a lagoon-view room. They told us that there weren't any available, but that they could put us in the Hawaii building (garden view).

The perks: free continental breakfast, free snacks in the afternoon, free appetizers before dinner (if you wanted, you could make it dinner), and free alcohol in the evening. We had turn-down service, and access to guest-service cast members who were in the building. With them, there was no waiting in line to deal with reservations or other stuff (I was doing some business and had a bunch of faxes going back and forth).

Past experience tells me that they're not going to offer you anything automatically.... if you don't ask, you don't get the bonus. When we asked, we weren't demanding; it was all part of a friendly conversation. I'm guessing the cast member liked us so he did what he could.

We are staying at the Polynesian in October, but I wasn't planning to request a longhouse.

However, in saying that, is there any longhouse, that if at check-in the CM says you are in "....", that I should immediately say, "That won't work for us" ?

Thanks!

I am not sure anyone can answer that. There are some Longhouses some people like, where as someone else might think that same one is a horrible location. So my best advice is to do some research on the various Longhouses and see which ones you might like and ones you would not want to stay in. Also for the record the Hawaii and Tonga Longhouses are the Club Level/Suite Longhouses, so unless your upgraded you won't be given either one.

I love a Magic Kingdom view. Tahiti is a really nice longhouse. Two sinks in the bathroom!!
