We are booked for the POLY in Sept. and I was hoping to *request* a certain longhouse (or whatever they are called) that might have a good view and/or better access for our 2 young kids (ages 4 and 7 months). Can anyone recommend a good place at the POLY for me to request on our ressie?

Thanks!

The closest Longhouse to the Great Ceremonial House is Rarotonga, if being close to there is an important thing for you and your family.

We had our first stay at the Poly in September and we were in Samoa facing the quiet pool. The view was pretty and we thought the location was very convenient to everything ::yes::. (although the one thing we didn't do was walk to the TTC, so not sure if you're planning on doing that and how far or close that is to Samoa :confused3).

We stayed in Rapa Nui (the longhouse closest to the TTC walkway)in Sept 06. With 2 small children, it was really nice. It was about a 5 min walk and to the TTC, hopped right on the monorail & we were in MK within mins and Epcot pretty quickly too. The walk to the main bldg & pool isn't bad at all. My girls loved looking at the plants & flowers along the way. It was also close to the beach if you wanted to go there to watch fireworks or to let the kids play. You'll love it no matter what longhouse you are in.:lovestruc

What is the best scenario - To be closer to the main building or a shorter walk to the TTC? I've heard that the buses can be an issue at the Poly.

I'd opt to be closer to the main building myself. You have the monorail right there. And you can always take it to the TTC. With little ones that normally is a huge help....especially when they're tired! And depending on where your going bus wise....they're not all long waits. :)

Ok...silly question but I can't figure it out! What does "TTC" stand for? I'm having message board lingo mixup!

We stayed in Tokelau two doors from the MK end of the hallway. We left our 7 month old in the room and went out for fireworks. Awesome! If we were going to EPCOT, we always walked to the TTC (Ticket and Trans Center). If we were going to MK or GF, we went to the GCH and monorailed from there. We also walked back and forth to GF as well. Tokelau was almost in the middle of the two places. A very short walk to the quiet pool and a pretty short walk to the volcano pool. It's beautiful. Anywhere is great!

Everyone will have a different opinion, so look at a map of the resort and see what might work best for you.

If you haven't already seen it, check out tikiman's site. It's a very thorough site all about the Poly. It gets too many hits and goes down at the end of each month. If it doesn't work, wait until the 1st.

The other thing to do at the Poly: ask for an upgrade! We asked if there were upgrades to lagoon-view- there weren't, but we did get upgraded to the Hawaii building: conceirge level with all kinds of treats!

what is tikimans site? and how much does a typical upgrade cost and how does that work exactly?

***Hoping for Poly in November!****

We like Tokelau as well. Larger rooms and if you stay on the 1st floor on the non-pool side of the building, you can open your sliders and the kids can run around in the yard.

I stayed in the Aotearoa Longhouse..I was fortunate to have been upgraded to a MK view...which was third floor...If you have the third floor on the other side you will have a balcony and it will have a monorail view...over looking a golf course. It is quiet and in a great location...just request 3rd floor in that building and you would be very happy on either side..it is also very close to the GCH (main building) ;)

just a quick question, but if you are farther away from the TTC, couldn't you walk to the GCH and take that monorail to the TTC and then switch to the monorail to Epcot? I am trying to decide on the best longhouse to request myself, but figured as long as you are close enough to the GCH, you could get to the other monorail easy enough, am I right? NOt sure.:confused3

Yes, but you have to go all the way around--GF, MK, CR, TTC. It's faster to walk from any longhouse than go all the way around, for us anyway.

Thanks so much for the info, I didn't realize that. I guess it would be better to just walk it then. :)

Tikiman is a guy who loves the Polynesian and has created a site that goes into exhaustive detail about everything at the resort. You can find pros and cons for each building as well as pictures of views from various rooms.

This board won't let me post a link, but you can google tikiman polynesian. Another easy way is to look up the Polynesian resort on wikipedia... a the bottom, there is an external link to tikiman.

Please explain the upgrades, what exactly should you say? Are there any free upgrades? If you dont ask, will they offer it to you?
