OK, I am convinced that we really CAN handle no dish, and pocket the monthly cost. So, I'm looking at the Roku boxes. Which one and what's the difference between them? We have 2 tv's and they are both the old stye tube tv, so we don't need to pay extra for the hd, if that's what the difference is.

Thank you so much for helping me save more $ toward our next WDW trip:thumbsup2

There are several models out, and I can't remember all of the differences, but we love our Roku! We've had it for two years and ditched the satallite six months ago. No regrets :)

If you go to roku.com, you can look at a comparison between the models. If you do not have a HD tv, you should buy the cheapest ROKU, the ROKU LT, which is $49.99.

Look around, you can sometimes find sales for these.

We have the $99 model, mostly because my husband ordered it instead of me. ;) If you got on the Roku site, you can compare all the models and see what features you want or need. I know the one wwe have has a USB port, which we have no need for, and more functions on the remote like rewind and fast forward.

just throwing in my 2 cents... we love your roku... ditch the dish and don't look back!:3dglasses

How do you know whether or not you can use the Roku to watch certain shows? I have a number of Syfy and USA Network shows that we like and watch regularly, but I can live without satellite if I could watch those within a few days of their airings.

There are no shows on the Roku itself; it's just a device for streaming video. You have to subscribe to a service like Netflix or Huluplus. You can go to either website to see what's available for instant view. There are a few free channels like Crackle, but it's mostly very old, less popular shows and movies.
