Which rocks will go better (update info & pic added)

Update: I am SO sorry but I left out something that would affect the answers. We plan on dividing the garden into sections...one part dirt/brown mulch and a plant, then the rocks; then another part dirt/brown mulch and a plant, then the rocks, etc. We want to make weeding easier since we are seniors

So, would the third set of rocks look too much like the dirt/brown mulch and there would be no contrast or would that still look ok?

What effect are you going for? If you want the rocks to provide a visible accent, I like the gray on the left. If you want to have the rocks blend in the color palate, and provide a slight accent, then the bowl of darker brown on the right. If you want a monochromatic look where the rocks don’t stand out, then the center bowl is the best choice.

None of them are bad, but each one will give you a different aesthetic.

I like the ones on the left (dark gray).

Honestly, I had such a "duh" moment. The first time I read the question I thought the choice was between the two photos and I couldn't figure out how they were different.

I'm torn. What color is your house, grey tones or brown? We had a similar problem with stones for a rock wall, deciding between more brown vs more grey. We ended up mixing them!

In the shade I'd say the middle one, but in the sunshine might be too white. I'd take into account how long the area will be in direct sunlight.

This is what we did at our former house. Pavers were a light reddish gray. We were originally going to get light gray/white stone, until I saw a parking lot next to the garden center that was made up with that stone! We went with a red stone. I liked the contrast between the darker stone, lighter pavers, and black mulch.
