Hiya,

I was just wondering which rides I should avoid. I am a fairly big girl UK size 22/24. Weigh around 260. I carry all my weight around my middle.

To avoid complete embarrassment of not fitting which rides should I avoid in Universal and IOA. If any one has any tips on Busch and Seaworld also, it would be very much appreciated.

I know most rides have test seats outside, but I find it humiliating trying these out. I'm also going with a group of friends and I don't want them feeling sorry for me if I don't fit as it will just make me feel worse.

Thank You in advance :)

I went in 2009 and I am about that size (maybe a little more) and there is a lane to get in for plus size people. I think it is line 3 and 6. They have signs every where. I rode every ride in the park. I had no problems at all. :)

Let me give you some advice from an older, but maybe not wiser person.

IF you go and don't even TRY to see if you fit on the ride you will be wondering and regretting it.
Embarrassment at trying out the seats? Why? You are an adult in a theme park. Some uptight people who don't enjoy life would think that was very odd and embarrassing. Do We care what they think? I don't.
Did I care that as an old enough to be a grandma I was on the Forbidden Journey queue to ride by myself and have a wealth of knowlege about Harry Potter and Disney too? Or that my fellow queue mate whispered to her husband about me? Heck NO!

You sound like a fun person and frankly if you were my friend I'd feel worse for you if you didn't give it the old College try. The people who make snide comments about the people who don't fit? Have no class and/or no life experience so ignore them. Your friends probably love you and would be sadder if you miss out for some fear.
I asked my friend who is an 18 maybe 20 on the top, she said she fit fine after worrying for weeks. That didn't keep her from trying the seats outside and not really even knowing if she fit, going in to face the Sorting Fat Hat as she called it.
If you don't fit? Just remember there are THOUSANDS/MILLIONS particularly in the US who don't fit either, laugh it off go do something that will make you feel good, buy a neat souvenir and enjoy whatever you can or want to do.

Lecture over... ENJOY YOURSELF and stop worrying (are you a bit of a worrier? I know I am.).

Have you ever been to Thorpe Park or Alton Towers? If you can ride Air at Alton Towers, you can ride Manta at Sea World. If you could ride Nemesis or Oblivion at Alton Towers or Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park you will be able to ride Dragon's Challenge and Hulk at Islands of Adventure, Kraken at Sea World and Kumba, Montu and Sheikra at Busch Gardens since the restraints are exactly the same.

For Rip Ride Rock It, sit in row 3 or 4 as those have larger seats, for Revenge of the Mummy, sit in the last row as you will have more leg room to get the restraint low enough to ride.

I weigh a little less than you and carry it mostly in my stomach. I have ridden every single ride at universal/IOA except for the marvel comic section where you go spinning around and the other ride where you fall from the sky. You might have a problem with dudly do right. It is a very small area and then it is very hard to get out. They do have bigger seats on most of the rides and you can just ask the person who is loading for the bigger seat. I understand that it is embarrassing to try the test seats since you think everyone is watching. A few years back I told my son to take pictures like I was posing so it didnt look like a was testing it. Now I really don't care. I really wanted to ride Harry Potter and because of all the stuff people were posting, I felt that it was better to know beforehand if I fit so I just went up to the test seat and sat in it. I fit and when I got to the loading part of the ride, they did pull me out again to test the seat. I am to the point that I know I am fat and there really isn't anything I can do about it so it doesn't bother me anymore. Re: seaworld. I have been on all kraken but not manta. Don't have the guts for that one. I believe Kraken had bigger seats.

If by chance you don't fit in the seat for harry potter, still go through the line and then just exit at the chicken exit. There is a lot in the queu that you don't want to miss.

I think that it is sad that people have to worry about this when being on vacation is supposed to be relaxing. Amusements parks should accomodate people of all sizes since the average clothing size for a woman is a 14 and the average clothing size for a man is a 44.

There are rides that everyone can go on, it is just that everyone can't go on all rides.

Don't forget that there are kids that you have to factor in here as well...so that changes your size averages significantly. You probably could change the rides so that only adults can ride and then bump up the restraint size. However, then there would be problems because children wouldn't be allowed to ride.

In a thrill ride, there are always going to be constraints...whether it be size, those prone to motion sickness, back issues, pregnancy, etc. etc. etc.
