We are bringing our 14 month old daughter with us and were wondering if anyone can share which rides or shows she could go on? I'm hoping that there are some rides our whole family could go on together - maybe something like "It's a Small World" or Winnie the Pooh.

Also, in the theater type shows can you leave the theater during the show if the little ones act up? I'm thinking if I'm on the end of a row it would be no big deal to slip the baby out if she starts crying....

Thank you in advance for any ideas and/or suggestions!

I would not take a 14 month old into any of the shows out of courtesy to others - that being said... sit close to the door and see Tiki room - that is mild - hall of president would be meaningless for a 14 month child so avoid that... maybe the country bear jamboree - it all depends... make sure your child is warmed up to disney characters before going... buy lots of disney vhs's with characters in them, get the country bear movie, make sure she is showered with disney character stuff before going... get the vacation video... show your child the character greets on it... at 14 months and even much older...some children will freak out seeing these "huge" monsters...I mean they aren't monsters to my daughter - but a friends 5 year old just wierded out when he saw them... scared him to death... he had not been primed...

if your daughter gets saturated in the imagery before she goes... then character greetings are the way to go... if there were only lame rides and shows in disneyworld my daughter would not care because she is completely enamored with meeting as many of the characters as she can... she did it the first time I took her...and she did it again this last time even though she already had autographs... she had to get them all again...

then... mickey's house, minnie's house.... those would be good...ariels grotto meeting... winnie the pooh ride... the cindrellas carousel, dumbo...mmmm.... not pirate sof the carribean, not the haunted house,... no way to space mountain, or thounder mountain ...maybe splash mountain but I think not...
character meals like at chef mickeys and crystal palace...

I am sure others will be able to post more insights... we hang mostly at MK for now as my daughter is just beginning to appreciate epcot...and we have yet to even get to MGM except for a day during xmas 2001 trip

oh and if you really want to get on peoples bad side then leave the show during honey I shrank the audience, its tough to be a bug...or any other similar 3d/4d experience..... those shows are highly dependent on the theatre being dark as they use 3d screen imagery that appears to pop out of the screen...open the door to let light in and it momentarily blows some of the effect... plus you just should not do a 3d show on a baby's brain... imagine you are just beginning to figure out the world around you and simple things like maybe walking... and all of a suddden you see a snake or a huge larger then life beetle some out of this movie screen and right into your face... wooohoo.... that would flip out most any child that young....

We took our son at seven months and again when he was 19 months. He was able to ride everything my wife and I rode on the first trip. (On our second trip we did a baby swap for test track but other than that he rode everything)

At that age she should be able to ride nearly everything (now mine are a little older and can be a little scared on a couple of rides. But at her age she should enjoy the sights, sounds and movement of most of the rides without being scared by pirates, ghosts or scary witches.

Some that she should be fine on at MK include...Dumbo,Snow White, Pooh, Cinderella's carrousel (Ya know, the Merry Go Round). Sorry I stink at spelling. Haunted Mansion, Jungel Cruise, Buzz lightyear, Magic Carpets, Peter Pan, Pirates of Carribean, TTA, Small World and the Train.

There are less rides for her at the other parks but to name a few. AK has the Safari Ride, Triceritops Spin. At Epcot.-Journey into the Imagination, Spaceship Earth, El Rio Del Tiempo, Malestrom (this one, like HM, PoC & SWSA, can be scary if she is at the wrong age... Old enough to get it, but too young to realize that it's just a ride) At MGM she can ride the Great movie ride, Backlot tour.

I'm sure I missed a lot but you should get the idea. There are a few she cannot ride (the 3 Rollercoasters, Dinosaur, Tower of Terror, Test Track, Alien Encounter, Splash Mountian and a few more)

As for the shows, there a plenty of them, some scarier than others and all should be easy to exit. But don't let her miss Playhouse Disney.

I was thinking more along the lines of Playhouse Disney, Lion King, etc. not really the 3D or movie types. I guarantee my 14 month old would not like the 3D movies and I wouldn't subject others to her cries on purpose so we'll have to take turns on those movies.

I guess what I was really wondering was if others had taken their babies on actual rides like Peter Pan and such. I figure some of these rides must be designed so that lap children can ride as well as older kids...

You will have no trouble on any ride that there is not a height requirement. My 18 month old did fine on all of them and absolutely loved them. There were even infants on these rides. She loved the shows at MGM. The music and dancing at Beauty and the Beast were a favorite. She even did fine at Muppet Vision without the glasses. The only character my DD knew before the trip was Pooh and friends, but she still loved the trip!

I would say anything that doesn't have a height requirement or 3D. Although my 15 month old has been going on a consistant basis since he was 6 months old, he is used to just about everything. I would for sure catch Festival of the lion King and Tarzan, my DS does not blink during these shows. At 19 months, I think your DD would enjoy seeing the colors and such on the Winnie Pooh ride and It's a small World. And not all children disrupt shows so if your DD is one that sits still and likes to watch, I would catch the Tiki room and any of the other shows that you want to see.
