I posted this on the family board, but figured it may get some replies here as well.

Ok, so I really have 2 questions here. The week after Thanksgiving will be our DDs first trip to Disneyworld, and our first time back since our honeymoon. First question....at the time, youngest DD will be 19mos. I know she can't ride the height req rides, but are there any other rides you wouldn't take a child that age on? I think she'll do ok on Haunted Mansion..shes the brave one..but for example, on Pirates theres a little drop. Not sure how still she'll sit. Any suggestions?

Second question, my other DD will be 4yo then, and wants to (so far) try Splash Mtn, BTMRR. Are there any of the height req rides (the 40 inch ones) that you wouldnt take a child that age on? I dont think she'll be ready for TOT yet, but anything else?

Thanks!

Pirates will be fine if she is brave. My then 21 month old hated it because it was dark and "scary". I'd hold on to her at all times on any ride so not sitting still shouldn't be an issue.

My DS first trip was when he was 12 mos old. There wasn't any fear in the child with things like Haunted Mansion or Pirates. We just held him in our laps on all the rides so he could see up over the bars and such. On things like Pirates with the drop we knew in the ride when it was coming and would say "here we go down the slide - whee". We still do this so nothing comes too unexpected.

At age 2 he didn't do well on Snow White so we skipped HM but tried out Barnstormer since he was tall enough - didn't do it again.

At age 3 he wanted to ride everything but still didn't hit the 40" mark. I say for your 4 year old just tell her a bit about the ride and if she wants to ride it then let her. But I would ease into the bigger rides like doing Barnstormer before BTMRR, HM before ToT, etc.

Hope this helps.

We took DD on her first trip at about 2 yrs, she loved the Snow White, Pooh, and Small World rides; however we went the next year and she was all of a sudden afraid of all the indoor type rides mentioned above. She loved the Barnstormer, Dumbo, Magic Carpets, Tea Cups and anything outside.

I would say at the 3 - 4 yr age is when they start getting afraid of the dark. So the inside rides may or may not work. As somebody else suggested try explaining it to them and then see how it goes.

We are heading back right before x-mas this year so we will see how DD (by then 4) does with some of the bigger rides.
