we have had TT close for rain during our FP window in the past ...I am wondering what else closes during rain: 7DM? BTMR? Splash? AO? EE?

It depends on how hard it's raining, but anything that goes outside could be closed due to the weather.

Last trip we had some rain. EE closed in the rain, but Safari stayed open, even during a thunderstorm, I was shocked. I was also surprised that 7DMT was running in a pretty heavy rain. We spoke with a CM, our FP return window was approaching and I didn't really want to ride in the rain (I'm an umbrella person, it was too hot for ponchos), he said they only shut down 7DMT for lightning. I don't remember exactly about the other rides, but I'm pretty sure Splash continued running in the rain.

Try to get a fastpass for an attraction when it rains. If you have any you want to get rid or, or can arrange it some other way, FP's for a ride that closes are awesome, because you can get an alternate FP for another ride (maybe one that was otherwise unavailable) for any time the rest of the day. You may not be able to time it out. Maybe you have a FP that you really don't want/need... or maybe your able to get your 4th, but when it works it is very handy.

Also if a ride closes during the last hour of the day, and you have FP for it during that time, then you get a FP for any ride in any park the next day. It started to rain late at Epcot, and we gave up and headed out. We stopped by a kiosk and got a TT fastapss or just before close... then TT closed and stayed closed and we got to ride SDMT the next day..even though it was booked up!!. We were fair, and checked the radar and it was clear that the rain was going to last, so we didn't take any passes from anyone who would have wanted to ride (besides standby was only about 10 minutes!)

I can tell you when it thunders everything at AK closes except the Safari, Nemo and FotLK! I was surprised we couldn't even walk the trails. Luckily the thunder didn't last too long.

Those are very good ideas. As long as the ride actually closes in the rain. I was under the impression that all outdoor coaster-type rides would close in the rain. Very surprised when they didn't close 7DMT that day, and it wasn't drizzle, it was real rain. CM had a stack of paper anytime FPs, got the impression that if we nicely asked if we could use our FP later instead of riding in the rain, he would give us one. I don't know if it was new Disney policy to keep things running in the rain that day, or if they just didn't want to shut down 7DMT. If they shut down 7DMT for a couple of hours in the morning, the line would be insane when they re-opened.

Many years ago I worked at a regional amusement park. There were very specific protocols for when to close a ride in the rain. We had gauges on several rides that would automatically warn us or specific conditions (wind, etc) that needed addressed. Then the various levels of managers got involved to make a final decision. The closure was normally done and executed in less than 3-5 minutes. Re starting after the rain was a bit more complex.

GMR at DHS is sometimes used as a rain shelter during heavy storms at DHS. They close the ride during those times.

I've ridden TT in the rain right before they closed it. It HURTS! LOL

I had the same experience on EE. You're going so fast, those raindrops just pelt your face so hard. It felt like hail pellets! I had to laugh at the ride photo (the one they automatically take partway through the ride) - most of my head is covered by my poncho hood (thank goodness for good quality ponchos with a drawstring hood!). Very little of my face is showing, and I'm scrunching my eyes shut and laughing hysterically. Yuck!
