Do all of the rides go through closures for Christmas Decorations or just some, and when do they typically do so?

We took our kids to DL for the first time a few years ago and It's a Small World was closed (it was early Sept.) so my kids never got to ride it. We are going Oct. 16th for 3 days and I am hoping that it will be open. Obviously we will still have fun even if it is closed, but they are young and I really think that they would like that ride so I am hoping it will be open this time around.

Thanks!

Do you mean do all rides get Christmas overlays? No. Haunted Mansion Holiday closes in late August to get its Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay and reopens for Halloween Time on Septmebr 16th. It stays in its HMH form until January.

IASW gets its overlay at the middle-to-end of October. When you went and IASW was closed, it was probably because the Disney character dolls were being added to the ride and it was being refurbished. That was a very long closure.

But normally, IASW goes down around the middle or end of October for its Christmas overlay, and then reopens on the start date of the holiday season (11/14 this year), staying open until January. I think it will either be closed this year by the morning of 10/17 or 10/24. Either way, you'll probably have a chance to get on it if you go on 10/16.

I'm not sure when the Storybook Land ride closes, but there are tiny Christmas decorations put on the cottages, so it's at least a few days, I'm sure.

Does anybody have a guess as to when in january the rides will close to take down the overlays?

The HMH will be the first one to be closed which should be on the 3rd of January this year. Than later in the middle of January IASWH will be closed.

I'm not sure exactly what's happening with this upcoming season and January. While I do think that Haunted Mansion Holiday will probably close down first and IASW Holiday will close a bit later, this upcoming season is different in that the official end date of the season is going to be much later than it normally is. Usually, the holiday season "officially" ends on the Sunday after New Year's Day - so that's not new - but it always turns out to be only a day or two after New Year's Day, so that's why it always seems like it's right around January 2nd or 3rd or 4th that the decorations start to come down and Haunted Mansion Holiday closes.

This time, however, the upcoming season is officially ending on January 8th - a full week after New Year's Day. I can't imagine that Disney would advertise its holiday season as officially extending that far into January in 2012 if they didn't still plan to have most of the holiday stuff up and running. So I wouldn't be shocked if Haunted Mansion Holiday officially stays open through January 8th and then IASW Holiday will probably quietly & unofficially remain open until after Martin Luther King Day. It may not go that way, but that's my guess for the time being.

Haunted Mansion should go down for its holiday removal January 9th this year. Holiday season is suppose to be through January 8th.
