You really won't know unless you give the rides/shows a try. What scares one child is funny to another. My 4yo is fine with the "real action" things, whether it be rides or attractions, but gets scared in the 3D theater shows. Last year he was terrified of the dinosaur in Back to the Future and I didn't bring him when I went with him to Universal last month, but will next month when I bring my whole family. Last year he was scared on Spiderman (thought he was really falling), but thought it was funny last month. I will bring him back to Shrek, which he's ok with, and he will probably like it this time. Geez, last year he cried on Jimmy Neutron because he thought he was really underwater and he loved it last month.
I would think that your 10yo will be fine, unless he doesn't want to do upside down roller coasters. My 10yo doesn't do the big coasters, but does everything else, and likes Dr Doom. My older kids (13 and 16) do everything, and the 4yo does everything that he is tall enough for.
