Which rides are "too thrilling" for those with motion sickness?

My motion sickness that I thought I had almost grown out of has returned, so I was wondering how wild some of the rides really are. Since I'm not a fan of inversions, and my children wouldn't meet the height restriction, dueling dragons is out, but how wild is Hulk? Any others that I should skip if space mountain made me woozy? Body Wars was a close one too.

I appreciate the advice and so will any other guests who will not have to witness my taking out a motion sickness bag!

The Hulk has many loops with inversions as well. Spider-man is a simulator ride similiar to Body Wars/ Star Tours but done much, much better (and in 3-D!). Definately avoid Storm Force (like Tea Cups on steroids). If heights don't bother you, Doctor Doom's FearFall may be okay. You get shot up 150 feet high and dropped back down (like Tower of Terror).

You may enjoy Universal Studios more, they have more tame rides/shows. Things to cautious of there are the Back to the Future simulator ride and possibly Men in Black (spinning shooter ride like Buzz Lightyear).

What some people do to help with motion sickness is take non-drowsy seasick medicine like Bonine (meclizine). If you take that first thing in the morning, you should be good to go the rest of the day.

I can get motion sickness too...I get a bad headache and feel like throwing up. I don't think I would ride Spiderman again or MIB. My poor 4 yr old daughter just got whipflashed (sp?) from those 2 rides. The rides jerk too much and it was spinning soooo fast!! My 6 yr old son didn't mind and enjoyed the ride. As for me, I will not be riding it again.

Although everyone is different, here is my 2 cents:
my DH gets motion sickness & I will tell you that he does NOT ride Back to the Future, but, he is able to ride Men in Black with no problems.
Also watch the spinning on the Cat in the Hat ride - it can be a little much ( I believe you can ask for the "no spin" car on this ?)

Also, I purchased a pair of "SeaBands" in Eckerds - cloth bands that work on a pressure point in the wrist - cost about $10.00, but much prefered than Dramimine or any other "over the counter" medicine that says "non-drowsy" but really can kick you in the butt when you are running around a theme park all day!

Hope that helps !!

About MIB...

The car you are in on the ride spins once whenever the opposing car shoots your exhaust port. So, your car may spin a couple various times but only complete 1 spin.

After that, at the very end your car spins about 2 and 1/2 times. This is the only thing you might have to worry about.

Just keep that in mind if you consider MIB. other than the occasional spin (NOT as bad as Cat in the Hat!), you are on a track the moves but doesn't really do anything but bring you from Point A to Point B. :D

Thanks for the heads up on the rides so far. The comparisons really help. It's very interesting how everyone's "spin quotient" is different in this regard. For me, things with a movie or flashing lights are often a problem, but with a movie I can just close my eyes for a moment and feel better. I think the lighted tunnel was what did me in on Space Mountain.

Again, thanks for the replies.

For me, it is the simulation rides that don't move forward that get to me. So, I get nauseous on Back to the Future, Body Wars, Star Tours, but I don't get sick at all on Spiderman, Men In Black, the Cat in the Hat.

I think it has to do with the fact that what I am seeing doesn't really correlate to the way my body is actually moving. I feel the fake and don't like it at all. Spiderman is done so well and actually moves so there is nothing fake in the experience. Men In Black and the Cat in the Hat actually move.

I found that Back to the Future was the worst ride for motion sickness, and Jimmy Neutron is a close second. I did take motion sickness pills the second day we went to the parks which helped alot! I even gave Jimmy Neutron a second chance and it was a much more enjoyable experience. I did take 1and 1/2 of the pills which made me a little tired. My suggestion would be to only take 1/2 to 1 until you see how it affects you.

Have a great trip! :D

Back to the Future definitely makes me sick. It is also hard on the neck. MIB makes me sick about the fourth time through if I haven't taken any motion sickeness medication. If I have I can ride it forever. It is the spinning at the end while some warm air is shot at you. I think if it was cool air, I would be fine.

All of the other rides are fine. I usually take some type of motion sickness medication, although a very lose dose, and that takes the edge off most rides.

OOH, Body Wars! That one is always a close call for me.

I saved one of my Scopolamine (Transderm-Scop) Patches (aka the seasick patch that you wear behind your ear) from my last cruise. They're awesome! I plan on wearing one for my Universal Adventure.

Happy Riding!

I absolutely cannot do Back to the Future or Body Wars - they both made me sick for hours after. I do not have any problem with MIB or Spiderman - they don't bother me a bit. As a matter of fact, I think Spiderman is the best ride ever! I can also do the Hulk and Dr. Doom. However, I can't do the Teacups at MK.

I would give Spiderman a try, you may have no reaction at all to this ride.
