Which rides are jerky on your neck and head

Can anyone tell me which rides at the Disney World are jerky, that would cause alot of jerking to your head or neck? I had whiplash many years ago, and since then if I go on roller coasters or other rides that are jerky, I have a horrible headache the rest of the day. I sure don't want to ruin our vacation day with that, so I would rather avoid the rides that might cause a problem. We are going to Disney the week before Memorial Day. This is my family's first Disney vacation,so we don't know what rides might cause a problem. We are all very excited. Thanks so much.

I'd avoid all the roller coasters, just to be safe. Rock'n Roller Coaster gives me a horrible headache so as much as I used to love it, I don't go there....and I never had whiplash like you! I still ride Space Mountain and Everest, though both of them could send me down that path too if I'm not conscious of always facing straight ahead. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad can be pretty jerky so I wouldn't chance it in your shoes. Test Track might cause you problems with the fast starts and stops, depending on how sensitive you are. Whatever you do, don't go on Dinosaur!!!!!

It should be pretty easy to figure out which rides will cause you problems. Skip the roller coasters and a couple of the thrill rides and you should be safe. If you have questions and still think you want to try it, send some of your family on before you and get their opinion. They probably know your issue pretty well and can give you a good suggestion.

Enjoy your trip!!

Primevil Whirl is very rough and jerky. Also, I don't ride Toy Story Mania anymore because 2 years ago I threw my back out on it and spent several days of my vacation barely able to move. Most people love tsm though and maybe I just had a bad experience.

Magic Kingdom
Pirates of the Caribbean has a SMALL drop (wouldn't affect most people, but just thought I'd mention it)

Splash mountain- smooth, but the big drop at the end might be a bit much

Big Thunder Mountain- Definitely would put you in a world of hurt

Haunted Mansion- you go dowhill backwards, otherwise it's very gentle

Winnie the Pooh + Snow White can be bumpy/jerky and you change directions quickly

Space Mountain- AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Buzz Lightyear- you control the movement, so if you ride, make sure YOU have the joystick.

TTA/Peoplemover- the cars do go quickly, it's smooth, but there are a couple of switchbacks that might cause problems.

Epcot:
Test Track- this one will put you in a world of hurt
Spaceship Earth- You go downhill backwards, if that's a problem for you
Mission Space- Centrifugal force/G-force warning!

Animal Kingdom:
Dinosaur- VERY bumpy, quick turns, very jarring
Primeval Whirl- This one WILL put you in pain

Expedition Everest- Smooth coaster, but you go upwards and backwards very quickly, otherwise a great ride

Kali River Rapids- the raft/boat does tend to bump around quite a bit
Kilimanjaro safaris- Erratic driving, lots of bumps

Hollywood Studiosp
Rock'N'Rollercoaster- 0-60 acceleration, loops, twists, and inversions

Tower of Terror- Getting shot up and pulled down forcefully with a lap-belt restraint.

Toy Story Mania- spinning with quick turns. It can be jerky, but otherwise a great ride.

That's it, from what I can think of without looking at a park map. If I think of anything else, I'll add it. I have mild to moderate back and neck problems, so these are rides I tend to avoid if I'm having a painful day.

I'd say the top 3 to avoid would be Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and Dinosaur.

test track at epcot is the one i remember for being the most jerky. it stops and starts really quickly throughout the ride and our heads were all over the place. of course all the roller coasters, as others have said, do the same thing. but test track was AWFUL!

Stargazer gave an excellent reply.

I really want to stress that the Winnie the Pooh ride can really mess you neck up if you have a previous injury. The up and down motion is brutal. I stayed away from the obvious rides but I was not expecting a kids ride to get me.

The dip at POTC is pretty tame. you know it is coming and can brace for it.

Good luck! I know how badly it sucks to limit yourself on rides, but the alternative of being in even more pain is worse :(

I can ride all other roller coasters, but Space Mountain is now off my list. I rode it last November, and thought I could almost hear my back cracking! I rode it once more, really trying to either be really stiff or really relaxed, and neither helped. Now the day I can no longer rid EE and RnRC..... :<

I'd say for certain to avoid Dinosaur, Space Mountain, Rock n' Roller Coaster, Mission: Space, Test Track and Thunder Mountain....

The second tier would probably be Expedition Everest (smoothest of the coasters in my opinion), Safari @ AK, Splash Mountain and Toy Story Mania and Pooh (altho TSM and Pooh to a much lesser extent)...Can't speak to Kali or Primeval Whirl because we've not ridden on them....

The backward drops in Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth are slow and gentle compared to the movements you would see on the above rides, as is the dip at Pirates.

Keep in mind that the stop or bump of your ride vehicle on almost any ride at Disney can rattle your cage pretty good as well, even Small World and Peter Pan.

I guess I would suggest you start 'gentle' and work your way up to what you feel you can tolerate.

Most disney rides big or small arent to jerky. I would say the worst for that is space mountain and primeval whirl.
When i was on primeval whirl last time i kept bashing my head againt the side, gave the family a good laugh though. its nice to see they care about my pain eh?;)

Space Mountain and Dinosaur are awfully jerky and rough. I always end up with a terribly sore back afterwards so unless I plan on bringing pain killers, hear pad and muscle relaxers I pretty much skip those rides. I did do it for DD last trme, totally bracing myself on SM and it was not AS bad but its a ride that I can no longer stand to do.

Unexpectedly, but just as jarring, are Pirates and IASW. Not so much during the ride, but if the boats back up at the unload (occasionally in Pirates, and pretty much all the time in Small World), the boats banging into yours from behind might exacerbate an already-existing condition...

My DH had whiplash from Snow WHite for weeks after our trip. It's funny to say it now but it was not funny at the time.

I've ridden BTM many times, but I thought I was going to die last time, when I went on it alone!
