I just found out that my dad needs to leave a few days early for our upcoming father-daughter trip. Since I'll be dining alone, my questions is: Which reastaurants can you at eat at a counter or bar and still have the full restaurant menu available?

Thanks!

Off the top of my head:

California Grill
Flying Fish
Portbello Yacht Club
The lounge attached to the Prime Time Cafe (at least during the day)
Big River Grill
Fulton's Crab House
Capt Jacks

There may be a few other places and there are other lounges that offer a limited menu.

First of all... :grouphug: ...sorry to hear your dad is leaving early.

I would bring a book...and eat at any restaurant. Lecellier, Brown Derby, etc all have tables for 2 so you wouldn't be lost at a huge table. Also you might blend in at restaurants like Beirgarten, or Teppanaki etc because you are seated with others at these places. Also for a quick meal Beaches and Cream has a counter area, and the fry cook is very nice.

I wasn't going the "reading material" and asking for the two top (actually most restaurants will automatically put you in the smallest table they have or suggest that you can eat the bar) route although I think it is a great option.

Many times in my twenties and early thirties, I wanted to try a restaurant in the city I was living at the time, and going alone did not bother me. I just brought some reading material and had a great time. Some places would be come favorite haunts and got to know one or two of the servers and they would take care of me from then on.

But, my now wife and I have had conversations along these lines and many people do not feel comfortable dining alone so was trying to accomdate the original request.

Thanks for the help everyone!
I think I wouldn't mind getting a table by myself for lunch, but dinner might be another story. I definitely fall into that mid-20s and uncomfortable eating alone category. Plus, I'm a restaurant manager and kind of chatty, so I like having a bartender to talk to!
Let me know if you think of anything else!
