I'm going to be at DLP over new years eve :woohoo: and i'm not sure where to eat. I know you can have special meals but there very pricey, so i was just wondering where anyone who has been over this time of year would suggest? I was thinking of maybe, cafe mickey as i really enjoyed the meal there last time we went, but i don't know.I would like something special but something thats not going to cost the earth.

Also what time would you suggest booking a meal for? as i guess there are certain times that get really busy on new years eve.

Might be worth having a look at past trip reports to see what others did. Hopefully this may give some reasonable options, as I agree some of the prices over Christmas/New Year are very expensive :)

Ok so i've had a little look round and come up with a few ideas of where i've picked would be nice for evening meals-just wondered what everyone thought?

First night 30th dec- The steakhouse in the village(we ate here on our first night on our trip in june and was very impressed with the food-plus my bf really wants to go back here- he loves his steak.

New years eve- Cafe mickey- again we went here on our last trip on my bday, at first i thought it looked like a glorified maccy d's :rolleyes1 from the outside, but i shall eat my hat as i loved it here  and was my fav place to eat, lovely food and loads of chareacters popping in.

New years day- Walts, haven't been here before but all the reviews are really good.

Our last day 2nd Jan- i wasnt thinking maybe one of either of these lucky nugget,Auberge de Cendrillon or Inventions this would be a late lunch before we leave, which would be best?

I did think about Blue Lagoon for one night as it is a lovely setting and would be nice and romantic:cloud9: but i have looked at the menu and dont think i like anything apart from the childrens menu.:sad2:

Anyway what do u think which ones would you choose?:thumbsup2

I am the same with The Blue lagoon - would love to eat there but dont like anything on the menu:thumbsup2

If you are going into the park for New Years Eve would you be better eating in the park? I just wondered if it gets busy early do they stop letting people in? Just a thought :cutie:

i did wonder about that, as the park would prob be better but i didn't where wud be nice for table service meal, any suggestions? maybe an early meal at mickey cafe would be good and a snack in the park later?

it never crossed my mind that they may stop letting ppl in, thanks for bringing that point up, i duno whether they do this, anyone know?

I am sure someone will answer that for you :thumbsup2

What about The Silver Spur Steakhouse which is in the park or if you want to meet the characters I can highly recommend The Lucky Nugget Saloon which is a buffet :thumbsup2

I think If you want to be in the park I would make a reservation as I think even counter service would be mobbed

yeah maybe we could do that and then have a meal a mickeys cafe a diff day, what about if we had a meal at mickeys on new yr eve about 5ish and then a snack later in the evening if needed- where would be a good place to grab a snack? we didnt go for any snacks on our trip (we were too full from meals) so i'm not to sure what is available

We spent last NYE at DLRP. We ate in Walts on the 30th Dec and got a window table so we could watch the parade go past. The food was good and the characters were on a great level for the kids to see as they went past the window. On the 31st we ate in Inventions the buffet was excellent and entertainment/characters were great. Last NYE only residents of each hotel could eat in the hotel restaurants, we were staying at the DLH so could only eat at Inventions or California Grill? or at places in the park/village. We couldnt eat at the resturants in Sequoia Lodge/New York etc. There were 2 sittings for all resturants on NYE 6.30 & 9pm and it was also a set price for the meal. Kids ate free at some places for the 6.30 sitting. We went back into the park after our evening meal around 10pm. Main Street was packed nobody could move we managed 2 shots on BTM and then they started to close some of the lands to prepare for the fireworks. At this point we left the park as the children(and myself) were getting really frightened and hurt by the crush. We were lucky enough to be staying at the Castle Club so sat with a glass of champange in the lounge with the big windows open and watched the fireworks from there. Hope I've not waffled to much.

thanks for sharing,i have read somewhere about the set meals at certain hotels and restaurants, which i would love to go to but there way out of our price range.
You have worried me abit about the crowds in the park, i know its going to be very busy but it doesnt sound like it was much fun.My bf did suggest maybe not being in the park at 12, maybe stay in the restaurant we're eating in or sit somewhere by the lake atfer all fireworks are in the air and we dont need to be next to the castle to see them.hummmm

i've just been looking that the special dinners for new years eve, and i'd really like to eat at walts but does these dinners mean you can eat at these times in these places, are they not open the rest of the time?

I think normal times were available for lunch but not for dinner. All table service/buffet places only did early (6.30/7pm) and late sittings (9pm) in the evening of NYE. I remember going past Plaza Gardens at about 2.30/3pm on NYE and people were queueing out the door. I don't know if they were still in line for lunch or lining up early for the birthday character tea.
You might want to think about having your main meal at lunch and having a cs meal in the evening or even buying filled rolls from the Replay shop at the RER station (very reasonable for drinks, beer, snacks, sandwichs etc) you can even wash it down with a glass of champange :drinking1 which they sell from carts on main street.
Hope I didn,t put you off after our experience with the crowds on NYE. If DH wasn't having to be on stand-by for work until 1pm on NYE we would go back again, DD even suggested we could just leave him at home :rotfl: the other day.

This is what i was thinking a i would like to have a nice table service meal on NY and would like to try walts as it looks really nice,i did want to go to cafe mickey for NY but now think it woud be better to eat in the park in case the stop letting ppl in if the park gets busy. What time do you think is the lastest we'd be able to hve lunch at walts?

I think they serve lunch until 3pm. We had a ressie at Walts for 5pm on the 30th Dec and we were the first in for dinner. We had been up since 4.30am.

People were still being let into the park at 11:40pm and later on NYE and down at the area under the station there was still standing space.

We did notice on January 2nd all the turf and plants round the central plaza area were being replaced due to damage on NYE.

Thanks k&c, i dont know why but i just thought you can't eat there on new years eve because everywhere only says about the special dinner.

Anyway i think i have decide where we'll be eating during are stay:-

30th- Evening meal (about 8ish) the steakhouse
31st- Lunch (2/3ish) walts and snack in the evening if needed
1st- Evening meal (8/9ish) Cafe Mickey
2nd- Lunch (12/1ish) The luckey nugget saloon

im hoping that by making the times different each day that if we miss a show or parade bcuz we're having our meal we'll get to see it that next day. when we went in june we booked tables around the things we wanted to do but we wont know untill we get there what times things are on and i guess being xmas/new year booking tables in advance is must.

Definitely book your meals before you go. I think it was 2 months prior

I still have the leaflets with all the show/parade times for New Years.

If you want a rough idea just let me know.

Oh yes that would be brill to give me an idea, do you think it will be simular timings this year then?

I plan to book asap i think i may be able to do it now

We had the same experience .
The crowds on Main street and before the caste were really freighting. I could not move my arms to open my bag when my sister called at midnight to wish us happy New Year.

Looking back we should have left the park an hour earlier to watch the fireworks from Hotel New York.

When we left the park we could not walk to the hotel because the gates from the Village where closed.
A group of hooligans where fighting in the Hurricans and the rest of the group was trying the get inside.

That was even more freighting. The gates where guarded by military police and guards with dogs.
I can still hear the sound of the Maglites smashing on the hooligans heads when they tried the climb over the fences.

No it was horrible but Disney could not do anything about it.

Its quit common in France. In the night to New Year lots of youngsters destroy others, cars or property.
Paris and Strasbourg are “famous “for it.

Just let all this not destroy the fun you have in Disney. Its a wonderfull evening with lots of lovely Paris people.
I spoke to a lady who spend NYE in the park with her just born baby. The litlle one was 9 days old.

Just when you go with children be a little careful and do not let them get out of your sight in the dark ore the crowds.
