Which restaurant--Tchoup Chop or The Islands dining room?

We will be staying at RPR, we are deciding between The Islands restaurant or Tchoup Chop? Which do you prefer and why? Also, tell me your favorite dish at the restaurant. Thanks!

If its the weekend(Friday or Saturday) go with the Islands..The buffet is excellent-crab legs-steak-fresh veggies along with alot more..The fresh carved beef is great..

With that it cost A lot less!!

They are very different types of restaurants. In Islands you will see a lot mroe young children.
Tchoup Chop has great atmosphere, fantastic food and wonderful service.
Make reservations in advance for Tchop Chop. You can make them a www.opentable.com

Unfortunately, I won't be at RPR on Friday or Saturday, we will be there from sunday through Thursday (leaving Friday morning). I've read the different menus, and both sound good to me. I'm leaning pretty heavily towards Tchoup Chop, but it gets so many mixed reviews! I can't understand how some people love it and some people hate it???

Where can I find the dinner menus for the Islands? Deb's site only has breakfast and lunch. What is offered Thursday night vs. Friday and what is the cost? I didn't realize they had a steak and crab legs buffet. My kids would go crazy for that!

We've eaten at Tchoup Chop twice and the Island several times. I would go with the Islands.

Never ate at Tchoup chop, but always eat at Islands a few times when we are there.
Last July 2 of the times we where there i had the Thai Curry Chicken and the Teriyaki Beef Stir fry, both where excellent.

Tchoup Chop is much more of "special" place than Islands. It is more elegant. Here is a link to a menu that is a few years old--it's all I could find:

It would depend on what type of meal you are looking for. We have enjoyed great dinners at both Islands and Tchoup Chop, but as I said. Tchoup Chop is much more special and the service is out of this world.

I have found the food at Tchoup Tchop to be very strongly flavoured. Not that it was hot or too spicy, just very strong. I guess the Islands is more mild. I think we have had most of the entres at the Islands. Their chicken noodle soup is very yummy.

There is NO comparison between the two. Tchoup Chop hands down. We've been more times than we can count and have NEVER had a bad meal there. The service is stellar and the decor is beautiful. The food is Pan-Asian and is very accesible to most people. Think New American with a Polynesian feel.

We (DW & I) love Tchoup Chop and try to eat there each trip. It is expensive, so beware; and it also has a business casual dress code. As for our favorite dish, we're both meat eaters and love the steak entre. I've also had the Hawaiian platter which is good, but I don't know if its still available.

We haven't done dinner at Islands so I can't comment on it. However, we have done breakfast at Islands several times and enjoyed it each time. On select nights, Islands has either a character dinner or other entertainment.

If your looking for a romantic dinner, I suggest Tchoup Chop; but if your looking for a family dinner, go with Islands.

One of the guys of DIS did a review of Tchoup Chop and said it was really good when the crowds were down (lunch, tuesdays, and not on weekends), but it fell apart when the place was busy. I can't say either way on Islands dining rooms. Hope this helps!

AAA and AP only give 10% discounts.

Maybe that's why we had problems....

We went on a weekend when they were having a business convention there, too. Whoever was preparing the sashimi appetizer got it mixed up with the salmon that was supposed to be cooked. I had one piece and my husband had seven. My piece seemed too warm, and my husband said that some pieces were chilled the way they are supposed to be, while others were room temperature. It tasted fine, so we just thought it was odd but never thought that it might be dangerously warm. We both spent the entire night throwing up.

Thanks for the link! I found a few coupons that I will definitely be using and you guys know---every little bit helps! I think eating out is one of the largest expenses of vacation.

I also think I'm going to eat at Tchoup Chop (from most of your recommendations) we will have kids with us, but they are very well behaved kids, and it does have a kids menu, the kids will be 10, 13 and 15. And my 15 year old son loves all kinds of foods, I cook a lot of ethnic foods, so he is very used to different tastes and he isn't one to order chicken tenders and burgers anyway. Thanks for all your input!
