I seem to remember a restaurant in Epcot, possibly Chinese or Japanese, where the chef cooks the meal right in front of you at your table. Does anyone know which restaurant I'm thinking of? And if so, is it a good restaurant?? Thanks!

I think that is the Teppanyaki at the Japan pavilion. I haven't eaten there.

Mitsukoshi Tempura Kiku (Japan); We visited regularly a few years ago. Limited seating, about 20 to 30 around. Good tempura, served with salad and soup. Funny story, on one of our visits in '99 we (my wife) were inadvertantly served a raw sushi platter. We said we didn't order it, they nodded and we thought okay maybe a freebie. My wife touched it, tried one of the sushi.....not me, I'm a burger guy. After 2 minutes, they (the staff) realized the mistake....looked at my wife like it was her mistake, reassigned the platter and the rest is history.

We prefer more traditional fare now!

Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki is what it's called. Keep in mind that you sit close to the very hot cooking surface........we haven't gone back since our new little one came because of that............we went with a four year old though and he did fine!

:cool1: DW and I had NYE dinner there just two weeks ago. It is a typical Japanes steakhouse where the chef cooks your meal in front of you. We enjoyed our meal very much and the chef was very entertaining and skilled. I don't recall tempura on the menu, but I had a sushi appetizer that I liked a lot.

Is there a tempura restaurant apart from Teppanyaki?

Is it a sit-down? I can't make PS's for it and I'm confused!

The tempura restaurant is separate from Teppanyaki. As I recall, and it's been a while the tempura rest. is at the top of the stairs and Teppanyaki is separate.
The tempura restaurant is not Benihana style but they do prepare your food in front of you. I don't believe they take PS but then again I've messed up already on this thread. Sorry for the confusion, but I did shovel 6 inches of snow today on 200 foot driveway!!

At the top of the stairs the Teppanyaki dining room is to your left & Tempura Kiku (name?sp?) is to your right. They share a hostess desk.

We absolutely love the Teppanyaki dining room! It is one of our "must do's"

Enjoy!

We love Teppanyaki. Everything is hot and fresh. We've been lucky and had some wonderfully funny chefs.

We ate there last month as part of our Candlelight Processional package. We didn't like it at all. We love Japanese food, this just was not up to par with the similar restuarants we have tried in the past, that's all. Also, salad no longer comes with the meal. It is a seperate charge. If you do eat here, definitely skip the salad. JMHO.
