Which restaurant for 11 yr old boy birthday dinner?

It's may not be super character-like fun, but I had my 11th birthday dinner at the Coral Reef. :goodvibes: It was such a different experience with the aquarium. It was also just my mom and I, and it will be 25 years ago as of next week. :scared1:

Oops forgot to add we need a place outside of the parks. We are going to Harry Potter that day. Someplace outside of Disney, inside of Disney, downtown Disney or at Universal.

I was going to recommed a thread had seen before: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2773147

Then I realized, it's yours as well :rotfl:

Restaurants with CM interaction:
50's Prime Time
Whispering Canyon Cafe

Sci Fi (more for the shakes)?
Beaches and Cream for desert?
Ohana before/during Wishes

Dowtown Disney:
Characters In Flight
T-Rex
Disney Quest

At ESPN they have tables with a golfing video game (Playstation) installed in the wall. You have to give them a room key to get the controllers from the arcade next door, but it's free.

The tables are in the "bar" area, so you don't have to make a reservation, you just might have to wait depending on what time you want to eat for one of those tables to open up.

OMG sooo funny. That post got lost in the shuffle;) Still open to more ideas our trip is in 2 weeks.

When we did US/IOA my son really liked Bubba Gumps, NBA City and The Hard Rock Cafe.

My son really liked T-rex, Planet Hollywood and Beaches and cream at that age. We never tried ESPN but he'd probably like that one as well.

If he is like my nephew ESPN would be the 1st choice:thumbsup2

I would go with Whispering Canyon Cafe...bottomless milkshakes and the Canyon Skillet is awesome!
ESPN Club would also be an alternate choice.
Beaches and Cream also has some amazing sundades and the kitchen sink.
I guess above would be my top three recommendations.

I would probably go with T-Rex or Rain Forest Cafe in DTD for a regular restaurant. BUT... my first choice would be Hoop Dee Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness. The food is very good, and all you can eat which is priceless with an 11 yr old boy. The show is hysterical. Both of my kids loved it there, but especially my son.

We did Hoop de doo review for my nephew's 8th birthday last April. It was a big hit. We went to the latest show and we had a great table, right in the middle. Nephew was selected to be the sheriff for the finale. Our server (Gloria) brought him his strawberry shortcake with sparklers in it at the end. If your 11 yo is into corny fun, this is a great choice. And, you don't need park admission to do it as it is at Fort Wilderness.

My teen still raves about his experience at Rainforest Cafe. He loved the thunderstorms inside and the whole jungle thing. I haven't dined there myself.

My son was at WDW for his 11th birthday. He chose to have his "party" at Ridemakerz and then at TRex. He absolutely loved TRex, but his other favourites were Sci-Fi (I was not a big fan, but he loved sitting in the cars).
