Which restaurant did you not like that everyone raves about?

Le Cellier. Quite honestly, I just didn't see the big deal. I think there are much better restaurants at Epcot in the WS, particularly, Bistro de Paris, and San Angel Inn. Heck, I even like the fish and chips from Yorkshire County Fish Shop better.... I don't know. Maybe I just caught it on a bad night, but it just didn't do it for me.

Jiko. I had some sort of curried vegetable thing (I'm vegan.) and I can't remember what my partner got, but I'm sure it was chicken or meat, and she didn't like it either. My sorbet was the best part of the meal. It made me sad that I wasted two dining credits on it. Whomp.

I have two.

Jiko. I got really sick after and ended up throwing up. Man that was a waste of a lot of money!

Kona. Both DH and I thought it was gross.

Jiko. I had the filet with macaroni and cheese. It wasn't worth two credits at all. I thought maybe I ordered wrong... Another is Whispering Canyon.
I guess we are not an antic type family. It Just felt rude to have straws and napkins thrown at us. Food was mediocre.

On a positive note, liberty Tavern and Mama Melrose both get negative reviews and I have had really good meals at both places. It's all about expectations, I think.

LeCellier. We just don't get all the hype now. Years ago we ate there and it was good, then we tried it again and just "eh". Whispering Canyon we found good food wise but the antics were annoying. Our all time worst meals though were at Tony's and Hollywood & Vine.

Les Chefs de France. Not everyone raves about it, but the last time I was there it has really gone Down Hill. Not much choice, teeny portions... Never Again.

Ohana. I simply do not enjoy the whole walk-around-with-already-cooked-food approach to dining. I want a restaurant kitchen to prepare my meal for me. Or at least pretend to!

Two for me also:

Raglan Road - We've eaten there twice & I'm baffled by the positive reviews. We haven't enjoyed anything we've ordered. To be fair, the bread pudding is probably really good. Unfortunately, I followed Dis advice & poured all the sauce on before tasting it. It was so rich & sweet that we couldn't eat it. On our 2nd visit, we still hadn't forgotten that experience, so we order differently. We've eaten at several DTD restaurants & RR was by far the worst. Either we've ordered badly, or we were really unlucky by hitting an off day twice. Alternatively, it could just be vastly overrated.

Jiko - It wasn't that Jiko was bad. I just couldn't believe the average, bland food we received was considered by many to be the best food at WDW. It's often suggested as the best signature restaurant. In our opinion, it isn't even in the same league as bluezoo & the other signatures are much better. One of the appetizers was excellent. The other appetizer, entrees, & desserts were very average. Our bill was $250 w/wine for the 2 of us. We've had better meals at some of the non-signature restaurants. Maybe, we went in expecting too much based on the reviews of how well prepared/exotic the food is there. The chef in charge of spices must have been off the night we were there. On a positive note, the atmosphere was very nice. We may try Jiko again some day for the atmosphere alone. If we do, we'll order several appetizers & skip the bland, very average entrees.

Chef Mickey's! I thought the food was extremely mediocre - worse than any other character buffets we have been to, and the character interaction was SOOO rushed. Goofy skipped our table completely, and we had to ask our server to have him come to our table. I wish I liked it. The location and characters were great, but I have no desire to go back.

LTT Dinner: Overcooked beef, and the "ham" was of the canned variety. Didn't care for the packaged-quality stuffing or mac & cheese either.

Strangely enough, we tried Wolfgang Puck Express three different times, and each was such a disappointment. Maybe we have just gotten so used to Disney magic in hospitality and food quality we just dont see what all the fuss is about. The "kids" there just kept talking and not taking anyones order and then, never gave any indication if we are to seat ourselves, or how we get drinks, dessert????? We felt most of their food was also so so salty..

Ohana - love the food - hate the horrible service that we always seem to get.

Liberty Tree - hate the pre-made food that seems like it was just sitting somewhere warming for a long time.

Akershus. Disorganized and a long wait to seating because if this. No leader just girls talking to each other. Kids.
A lot of money for not a lot of food and the dessert choices are pretty poor. Kids did not enjoy the meal.

People really think this is the best steak they've ever eaten?
Soup and breadcrumbs better at a steakhouse. That's a problem. Tried it 3 times because people kept raving about it.

50's Prime Time-The food was fine, but certainly nothing to rave about. Our waiter was a little into character, but unfortunately not funny or different enough for us to want to return.

When I read the title of this thread, I knew immediately that three names were going to be on many people's lists...

Jiko - Clearly it's not for everyone because of the "exoticness" of the menu. But you should know that going in. If you're not at least a little bit daring when it comes to food, you're better off somewhere else.

Le Cellier - It would be impossible for this restaurant to live up to its hype. There's no doubt it's a good restaurant, but if you think it's a world-beater, and the best meal you'll ever have, you're going to be disappointed.

'Ohana - Family-style is immediately going to turn some people off. And the food is also somewhat on the daring side.

There's often an expectation of greatness, especially with the signatures. If a restaurant is not "great" for one reason or another, there's going to be a letdown.

I think Jiko really is a great restaurant, but some people just simply aren't going to like it. Le Cellier should have something for everyone, and it's a more than decent restaurant. 'Ohana is what it is.
