I just thought a list of the resorts currently selling the refillable mugs with the bar codes would be helpful.

None of the resorts have it yet. Only Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are using the system at the moment.

Thank you, that's a big help.

Any idea when the resorts will be using the bar code system?

I hope that someone will post when this bar code takes affect. I am not going to pack the mugs if I don't have to they take up alot of space.

The last I heard about this was that no resorts have the bar code - and they do not have plans to put it in. They are however telling the CMs to enforce the length of stay rule for refillable mugs.

The water parks have refillables with bar codes. You can buy a new bar code with each visit.

This is the latest I have been able to understand on how this is all working.

WDWtrekker, I heard the same thing. Seems the resorts getting them was just a rumor. They said that would really slow down guests. I hope this is true and they don't get them:D !

I wrote Disney an e-mail a few weeks ago about this and a few other issues. According to them, while they intend to enforce the length of stay with the mugs to the best of their ability, the addition of bar codes to the mugs at the resorts is nothing more than an internet rumor.

Even if they don't get them, since they mugs are for length of stay, not lifetime (regardless of what some have been told by CM's) leave the old one at home and buy a new one. For only a few fill ups it is paid for and then you get a "cool" mug to use at home for free!!!

For what it's worth - you can also take your resort mug to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon & buy a bar code sticker for $5.00 which allows you to get as many refills as you want for that day. It will save you $5.00, but of course you won't have the BB or TL mug. We did this in June.

The advice to bring the resort mugs to the water parks may not be correct. I thought I saw a posting that the water park mugs could be used at both parks only with purchase of bar codes. The resort mugs cannot be used at the water parks.

What is this new bar code system? I know it's not in effect yet, but is it to force you into buying a new mug each trip and not allowing guests to reuse mugs? How do they go about inforcing this?

Kim from WDW Executive Office called me the other day in this regard. I had emailed WDW on the policy. She said that , indeed the bar codes for the RESORTS is only a rumour & that WDW is wondering how it got started (in her words). We did not discuss the policy for the water parks so I cannot say what the current info is....
Resort Mugs are length-of-stay only and the CM's have been asked to be more diligent in enforcing this policy. ;)

I thought this might not be true too, but we were just their in June & bought the bar codes at TL & BB for our Polynesian resort mugs The information was not posted in either water park, but we just asked the CM's & they sold us the bar codes for our resort mugs at $5.00 each.

What is this new bar code system?

Andrew015 - Sorry I forgot to answer your question. What they do for the bar code system is put a bar code sticker on your mug. Then, whenever you want a refill you go to one of the self-service drink stands, scan your bar code, & the drink machine will then turn on so you can get ice & soda. It stays on for only a short period of time, but long enough for you to get your drink. Does that make sense? It's sort of hard to explain.
