Which resort's concierge level do you prefer?

Hoping for a few more posts with concierge-level recommendations (or *not*).

Thanks,
agnes!

Happy Birthday! I wish I had a recommendation...in laws loved the main building concierge (insert name.........:) ) at the GF! We were actually booked WL CL for our upcoming trip in the HoneyMoon Suite (anniv)..I cancelled..I guess I wasnt that impressed with the "general" email contacts etc...I cancelled and then booked using the new coded, saving abt $600:) AND with a courtyard view!
Alot of times, if the front desk knows you are celebrating, they may do something special. And if you get your b day pin at any guest services at the parks, and WEAR it...you will get special treatment I am sure! And all of that is free:)
Have a great trip:)

I agree with the last poster. We didn't love Poly concierge. It was great to have OJ and cokes available all day, but we never got any special feel there. Mousekeeping was just terrible. No towel animals and problems with trash and daily housekeeping. We were lucky if our beds were made by 3 pm if at all. Location was perfect, but for us it wasn't worth the extra $$$. I just love GF RPC. We'll be there for our next stay in Nov.

We have stayed concierge level at CR,YC, BWI, Poly, WL, and GF main bldg. RPC. In my opinion, the GF was the best, and that was 4 different times.

We've stayed concierge level at the GF, BWI, WL, and BC. Our favorite, service-wise, is the BWI. It used to be the GF, but they've had so many issues lately. Their IPO staff doesn't return calls, doesn't return e-mails, doesn't seem to know how to make bookings. I told them they would need my credit card number to book V&A's, and they said no, they could do it without. When I called back, they hadn't even tried to make the reservation for us - their excuse was that they needed our credit card #. Duh... We have a trip planned in August, for our 5th wedding anniversary, and they have dropped the ball so many times that it's turned a special celebration into a time of great fury and angst!

We're splitting our August stay between the GF RPC and the BWI concierge, and, frankly, I'm wondering whether we should just stay at the BWI the entire time. The service is so much better there, as are the food offerings :)

We didn't care for the BC, since their lounge is way too small and the offerings are centered more around kid-friendly food. If you have kids, I would definitely suggest the BC, though, since they are very child-focused.

We appreciated the service at the WL, but we just don't like the decor; it's too "cowboy" for me.

Overall, I'd strongly recommend the BWI for adults, and the BC for families with children.

Cheers!

We had never stayed Concerige before this trip.
We were at BC CL, so the price difference was $216 per night from standard to CL. I would not have paid that amount extra for CL (we were upgraded).
First let me say that we used a 40% off code to book the standard room.. so we have NO complaints about getting CL. But, if you are going to pay the difference between standard $369, or CL $575 (it was a waterview), I could never justify that.

The lounge was nice.. but I wouldn't call it comfy nor lounge-like. Only tables and straightback chairs. The offerings were limited, and it was like a cattle-call at 5:00 when they put out the more substantial hors d'oeuvres. The staff did replenish them often though.
I also found that they would take the food away before the scheduled time. The contintental breakfast was supposed to be taken away at 11:00. We found that it could be gone as early as 10:25 and replaced with the snacks. And the night-time cordial, drinks & desserts were often gone by 9:45 instead of 10 when the lounge closed.
They did have few choices of wines and cordials, and a few different beers. Usually a nice array of desserts too. But it was certainly NOT worth a $216 difference per night.

Mousekeeping was excellent. We used a lot of towels, and she was sure to give us extra. Lots of towel animals too. My daughters faves were 2 kissing snails (large!) and a doll that had arms, legs and could stand on it's own!

The conceirge people were very nice.. but we didn't ask for anything special so we can't say how good their service was. There were always different people there too. I have to say there were at least 9-10 different faces I can remember.. so it don't think it could be a personalized thing.

We would have enjoyed this resort just as much staying standard. We LOVED the pool area and the lazy river! The whole resort is beautiful! It's very convenient to our second favorite park, Epcot. So what's not to love?

If I were to splurge for CL, I would choose AKL. And now more so from the experienced CL'ers reports! Next year I will be spending at least one night CL there for the safaris.

Have a wonderful B-day there. Don't forget to wear your b-day button!

For those of you who are BWI concierge fans I would like to ask a couple of questions. Is the lounge open all day? We have only stayed at the Poly and really liked the lounge being available all the time. What are the food offerings? We are really considering staying here and would like a little additional input. Thanks so much in advance.

we have stayed yc, bc, bwi and poly. in order of best to not best: yc, poly, bwi, and bc.

Yes, the lounge is open all day. The breakfast is the usual continental breakfast with all the pastries coming from the BW Bakery. There are also bagels, cold cereals, yogurts and fresh fruit. Evenings there are 2 hot dishes along with cheese, crackers veggies and dip and pbj uncrustables. Beer and wine is also available at this time. The hot dishes come from Spoodles, Flying Fish and ESPN Club. The cordials and desserts are so yummy here. Throughout the day there is iced tea, lemonade and soft drinks along with snacks. I love staying here and feel very comfortable going into the lounge and sitting for a while.

Of the resorts we've stayed, BC, BWI, GF, AKL, and Polynesian--for us it is hands down the Polynesian. :thumbsup2

KerryCM thanks so much for the info. I will pass this along to my DH. The lounge is a very important part of the trip for him.

I have stayed at a few concierge levels, and it would be a wonderful treat for your 0 ending birthday. My favorite is the Boardwalk, when they say welcome home I could really believe they meant it. My second choice would be the Contemporary. Least favorite for me was the Poly ( although it was because of attitude of one of the Chef's in dealing with my food allergy) the lounge is beautiful there though. I stayed at the GF too, and it was ok, I just felt out of place. We aren't ones to use the services too much, mainly we go for the food. The Boardwalk CM's were the best in my opinion. The Contemporary came in second.

We were just at Sugar Loaf for our Honeymoon........my DH and I would get our breakfast at the lounge and take it out by the pool.......I love Club Level:cloud9:

We stayed CL at the GF for our honeymoon in 1990. We celebrated our 10th anniversary at the Poly CL level. I really enjoyed them both but I'd give the GF a definate edge.

One bummer about the CL at the Poly -- we didn't stay in the actual concierge building. That kind of took away from the enjoyment and accessability of it.

I'm considering whisking DH off to one night at the WL CL in January. He'll be home on R&R and I'd like to have some special time with him. Paying close attention to this thread!

Have stayed at the CR, GF, Poly, YC, and BWI. We as a family chose to stay at BWI for our upcomming trip. It by far has the best staffing and the most pixie dust to spread around.

:coffee:

For those of you who prefer the BWI concierge rooms, do you have any pics of possible views? A family member *really* dislikes the clown pool and it's a no-go if that pool can be seen from a CL room.
Also, for those who like the WL concierge rooms, do you by any chance have pics of those views? I understand that some of the WL rooms have basically no balcony (big honkin' iron safety-railings instead?). We stayed at WL once in a Courtyard-View room and it was really nice.

Thanks,
agnes!

A bump for the Friday crowd.

Am still hoping for pics of some of the views from the various resorts' concierge rooms :teeth: , especially WL. The pics I have found of the BWI CL rooms' views are gorgeous :thumbsup2 ! Thanks everyone for your posts. It certainly does look like BWI/CL has a lot of happy fans here on the DIS.
Also, I'm having trouble understanding the different concierge locations at GF and what the views are like from them. If anyone has "reviews" of GF's different Concierge locations or pics of the views, could you please post them?

Thanks,
agnes!

I've stayed concierge at AKL 4 times, WL once and BC once.

Hands down AKL was the best, BC was also very good but I didn't like that their lounge closed between meal services (they shut the doors)

WL was last, it was just okay.

Thanks, SeaSpray, your website was quite helpful, even though it was before/during the rehab. Anyone else have reviews of the service or pics of the views from WL/BWI/GF concierge levels? Especially the Boardwalk Inn's concierge rooms' views...a view of that clown pool is a deal-killer.

Thanks for all the posts & the pics,
agnes!
