Hi, we are thinking of buying in... we do really enjoy the resorts thought... which resorts can you use points,, I know some like poly and GV.. but not the others... and would you still get maid service here... even it you are using points... thanks...amy

You can use your points at all WDW resorts with the exception of:

All Stars
Wilderness Lodge Resort
Boardwalk Inn
Beach Club (not sure about Yacht Club)

I believe you "do" receive housekeeping when staying at these resorts...

Thanks for the info.....maybe DVC is for us.....i know it takes more points .....but that would be OK.... thanks..... again ..amy

Amy, you should look at how many more points it takes if you are looking at non DVC resorts. The points are pretty close for a regular hotel room at non DVC resorts compared to a 2 BR at DVC resorts. If you're thinking of using points in large part for non DVC resorts, you'd be better off either not buying or just buying the number of points you'd use at DVC directly then paying cash for the non DVC options. Plus there's no guarantee these options will continue as they are not guaranteed.

Yacht Club is still available to stay on points (Beach Club is not).

Until you've stayed at a DVC resort, the concept is sometimes hard to grasp. It is every bit as "good" as a "regular" resort and a one-bedroom or larger is a major step up from any WDW resort room. The idea of not having daily maid service is a stumbling block for many but after actually experiencing it, most people either don't miss the maid service or actually enjoy not having to worry about the maid's schedule fitting with the family's schedule. ;) There is also always the option of paying additional to keep daily housekeeping or one of the reduced levels of service.

Buying DVC to primarily stay at other WDW resorts is not the best plan. However, I think once you've stayed at one of the DVC resorts, you will be more than happy to spend time at them again and again. You do also have the option to try most of the other WDW options so you don't need to feel you are missing out on anything.

If you stay at a resort on points, daily housekeeping is included.

My husband thought we would use points to stay at the contempory when he agreed to buy, but next year we are taking his whole family so he said we could stay at SSR. Now that he has seen the DVC info and the pictures of the rooms he is talking about trying to stay at all of the DVC resorts. Even changing in the middle of our trips (something he never would have done before). The only thing he wants to do now is stay at the Grand Fl. on our 10th anniversary. Other than that I think we will stay at DVC resorts forever.:D

I agree with the previous posters about the DVC resorts being just as nice if not nicer in terms of room size, amenities, etc. compared to deluxe resorts. We have reservation points we have to use by July 31 of next year that we are going to use at the Yacht Club or the Grand Floridian but my heart is really at OKW. The 182 points we have to use could put us in a 1 bedroom villa at OKW for over a week with a jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, washer and dryer, etc. but we'll only get 4 or 5 nights at YCR or GF. I've stayed at the GF, Poly and BCR before and while they are very nice resorts, I'd rather stay at a DVC resort and spread out.

I don't want to sound ungrateful though. I know we'll we have a good time at YCR or GF and I can't wait to get back to Disney in June but I do see the true value of DVC points is at the DVC resorts.

Thanks for all the great info.... it seems that once you go DVC you love it ..........thanks again....amy

I believe the rule of thumb for which deluxe resorts that are available on points are those which do not have a DVC resort associated with it. Thus, WL, BC, and BWI would not be available to stay at on DVC points. Any other deluxe resort is fair game.
